Donald Trump may be gaining support at home after proposing that the country ban Muslim people from traveling to the US. But across the pond, a petition to ban Donald Trump from traveling to the United Kingdom has just become the most popular petition on the government’s website.

Posted just two days ago, the petition has already reached 458,230 signatures and counting. At the time this story was written, it had garnered 7,861 signatures in the last hour alone. That puts the Donald petition ahead of a September petition urging the government to accept more asylum seekers and increase support for refugee migrants in the UK, which led to Parliament’s announcement that the country would resettle 20,000 Syrian refugees.

Not that Great Britain doesn’t have its own immigration opponents. In third place is a petition to do just the opposite, asking the government to shut down all immigration completely, an idea that has already been struck down by Parliament.

Because the Trump petition has gotten more than 100,000 signatures, the government will now consider debating the issue in Parliament. While banning Trump outright may seem outlandish in the US (though not nearly as outlandish as banning an entire faith group from entering a country whose Constitution protects freedom of religion … just sayin’) there is precedent for this kind of thing in the UK.

The country has banned people for “unacceptable behaviour” in the past, including celebrities like Martha Stewart, Chris Brown, and Mike Tyson. The UK has also banned promoters of hate speech, [size=8]like Stephen Donald Black, a Ku Klux Klansman and founder of the white supremacist internet group Stormfront, which, incidentally, has had to upgrade its servers thanks to the traffic boost it’s getting from Trump-related content.[/size] :shock:

Trump won't win the republican nomination.

But if he did he would lose the general election. Why? His views are extremely polarising. He is drawing out disgruntled republicans at the moment, but that is from the group of people who vote in republican primaries - a very committed, fundamentalist crowd.

In a general election, you need to attract the centre. That is where Hillary would eat him alive.

I must admit I was previously adamant that it would be Jeb. But even the Trump/Carson insurgency aside, he has been a really poor campaigner so far.

He could still get it, but it seems to be Cruz/Rubio now.

As the primaries roll on people start thinking about who is capable of winning a general election.

Whilst there is no doubt that Trump's core support is relatively large at the moment, he is also much more reviled than any other candidate. Once some of the bigger candidates drop out, support will coalesce around whoever is strongest out of Rubio, Jeb and Cruz.

As if the Trump hysteria couldn't get any worse, there's now a way to zero in on all your friends (you know, the ones from high school that you only see when you're in your hometown and get dragged against your will to the local bar?) who have "liked" Donald J. Trump on Facebook.

When you go to friendswholiketrump.com, it redirects you to your own Facebook's search page, where your search bar will look like this:

FRIENDSWHOLIKEDONALDTRUMP.COM

Below the bar, you'll be able to see which of your "friends" are all up in Trump's Facebook grill.
Of course, the whole concept of searching for friends who "like" certain things isn't new. You can look for a ton of different interests in that search bar, including things like "friends who like CrossFit" or "friends who like pizza." (Those two cross paths quite a bit in my own friend search ... but, you know, no judgment!)

It should also be noted that "liking" a page on Facebook doesn't necessarily mean your friend really likes the GOP contender. It just means your friend wants to know what he's up to.

It's like the old adage about not being able to look away from a trainwreck. Except this trainwreck is a racist real estate mogul who also happens to be gunning for the position of leader of the free world.
