And this is the greatest reason why he is so dangerous Quote:US election: Donald Trump says he will renegotiate America's role in global climate accord Presumptive Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said he would renegotiate America's role in the UN global climate accord, spelling potential doom for an agreement many view as the last chance to turn the tide on global warming. interesting article from nate silver on why he ignored polls on trump and gave him a low probability of winning the primary http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/how-i-acted-like-a-pundit-and-screwed-up-on-donald-trump/

He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

Please tell me more about how Trump can't possibly win. Interesting discussion over this article on the fivethirtyeight election podcast - there are caveats over the methodology used by the various polls used in the aggregation data. However, it does seem that Republican voters are falling in behind him as the candidate - becoming normalised. Their conclusion is that it is still early days, but there has definitely been tightening with Trump consolidating republican support. But still very hard to tell.

Let America vote in trump. Let his supporters feel like they been heard. Let his promises come to fruition or not. Who cares if he wins then we're in for a hell of a ride. If he loses i hope his ego doesn't make him do or say something stupid

Is the assassination of a President even possible anymore? With the amount of security always watching and checking everything, could it still happen?

But still very hard to tell. 538 have been wrong far more than they have been right in this cycle, and they're making the same mistakes now that they did when they discounted Trump and Sanders all throughout the Republican primaries. It's a pretty simple equation now. In their desperation to nominate Clinton, the DNC are missing the forest for the trees and alienating more and more Sanders supporters to the point where without some kind of serious intervention (like adopting a chunk of Sanders platform) they are going to hand Trump the presidency.

In their desperation to nominate Clinton, the DNC are missing the forest for the trees and alienating more and more Sanders supporters to the point where without some kind of serious intervention (like adopting a chunk of Sanders platform) they are going to hand Trump the presidency. Not at all - certainly they were late to recognise Trump's rise, but so was everyone else. They even put up a very interesting article explaining how they missed it, and why they got that wrong. In terms of individual primaries, they've been pretty spot on whenever there has been decent polling data in the lead-up. I think you are completely wrong re the Democrats. If the Republicans can coalesce behind such a polarising figure as Trump, then the same will happen with the Dems. All that has happened is that the Republican Primaries, and Trump, were sucking in all the media attention. Now that race is over, all the attention is on the Dems. Not to say the presidential race won't be more competitive than was previously thought, but the Sanders v Clinton battle is just primary politics. 4 years ago we were having the same debate about Hillary supporters supposedly never going to support Obama. But they ended up falling in behind him once it was settled. For me the biggest unpredictable variable is how unpopular Clinton and Trump both are. Their high level of "unfavourables" are unprecedented historically.

I hope Bernie drags it out until the end, the longer he stays in the more damage he does to Clinton and the potentially more divided the party will become.

Speaking of the 2008 Dem primaries, I find it hypocritical of Clinton to accuse Trump of racism/other -isms when she herself used dog-whistle attacks on Obama.

I'm for Trump 2016. I'm not personally offended. I observed its distasteful to discuss ways to kill the future president. The kind of thing that could land you a visit from the AFP and no place on this forum.

Constant violence by protestors at Trump rallies seem to be giving him more power. You'd think that these people would have learnt by now?

The mentality of many hardcore Trump supporters is one of being the victim. These protestors that commit violence are just providing them with evidence to confirm that viewpoint. I support the right to protest. But Trump and his supporters have the right to free assembly.

Exactly right. There's protesting and then there's causing a scene where you ultimately get removed or attract police attention. If police have to use tear gas it makes Trump opposition look like the loonies rather than the idiots who think building a 30ft wall will stop illegal immigrants
