Oceania is not strong enough to be on its own & just like the Caribbean joined Central America & North America to create the CONCACAF Confederation, Oceania should merge with Asia & become the Asia-Oceania Confederation. The likes of Tahiti, Fiji, Salomon Islands, PNG, Samoa, Tonga, New Caledonia, American Samoa & Cook Islands would begin its Asia-Oceania Cup qualifying campaign competing with Guam, Laos, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India, Palestine, Northern Mariana Islands, Maldives, Napal, Timor-Leste, Philippines, Bangladesh, Mongolia, Myanmar, Bhutan etc while New Zealand would be in the group with Kuwait, China, Bahrain, Vietnam etc.

It should but it wont as the oceania reps are important to sepp. He can bribe them with stadia and "football related " infrastrucures " so he can get their vote

I doubt it's financially viable to send these teams all over asia to places like palestine, nepal, mongolia and it's pointless. obviously it's been worked out already that the cheapest elimination strategy is for them to all play each other and the winner plays new zealand

Include them all and then leave the costs up to them. We're talking like Fiji, Samoa .. if you teed them up for games or qualifiers against their usual Oceania Opponents.. it may just be viable (?)

You will be surprised how much FIFA spend to keep Oceania running. Believe me sending Tahiti for one or two away matches if they get through to Guam or Laos is nothing compared to running a whole confederation. It's not just about travel. Promotion, Oceania representatives/employees, Oceania Head Office building, Oceania WCQ, Oceania Cup, Oceania Club Cup, U17's, U20's, U23's etc & many more. You would be shocked at how much FIFA spend to support Oceania.

Its a no brainer to fold Oceania into Asia. Oceania is a joke.....there are less than 30 pro players in the whole Confed and most of them are kiwis. To save travel costs the Oceania region could play its WC qualifiers etc in their area amongst themselves and the winner go through to the next round. It would save Samoa traveling to play Lebanon for example. I don't understand why FIFA persist with Oceania......once Australia left it has no credibility. The kiwis only have to beat Tahiti new Caledonia, Vanuatu etc to get a one off shot at qualifying for the WC finals.

I'll put it to you this way, if Sky TV NZ only pays the FFA A$180k per year for the A-League TV Rights, do you think that the AFC HQ in KL are sitting there going "yeah, let's take 11 more easterly-located nations, that add completely fark all money to our lot?" Answer that question first, then reconsider our post.

should happen. its so stupid how we have an asian champions league and yet segregate the two sides until the final, and we also have a gulf nations, asean nations separate tournament within a confederation.

Oceania to have a Confederation for itself is a joke. It should be Asia-Oceania Confederation. Example of how easy this could happen. Round 1 of Asia-Oceania World Cup Qualifying:
Pot 1: Malaysia Afghanistan Cambodia Nepal Bangladesh Sri Lanka Vietnam Mongolia Pakistan Palestine Timor-Leste Macau Chinese Taipei
Pot 2: Myanmar Philippines Laos American Samoa Cook Islands Fiji New Caledonia Papua New Guinea Samoa Solomon Islands Tahiti Tonga Vanuatu
A team from Pot 1 will play a team from Pot 2 in a two leg home & away play off as it already has been in Asian Qualifying. New Zealand would be waiting with nations like Indonesia, Hong Kong, India, Lebanon, UAE etc in Round 2 Asian-Oceania Qualifying.
This way the weaker nations only play 2 World Cup Qualifying matches every four years & 2 Asian-Oceania Cup Qualifying matches every four years. It would save FIFA a lot of cash rather than having to put in money to run a useless confederation where these pacific island nations play against each other in group stages with is more than the two matches.
As the Asian-Oceania Confederation it would meen four nations, the top two in each group qualify direct & both 3rd place teams go into a two leg play off, one against 5th place South American & the other 4th place CONCACAF.

Oceania can go into the first round and play off against the likes of phillipines, laos, Cambodia, Brunei, Singapore, Guam, Chinese Tapei etc. Travel would not be that bad.

Why mess with Asia as it is? 17,000 at Iran v Bahrain game suggests having West Asia is fine.
Why mess with it?

What's the big fuss? In the qualification for the 1966, 1970, 1974, 1978 & 1982 World Cups it was Asian/Oceania combined. Could have up to 6 countries in the World Cup finals with 4 direct qualification & 2 in play offs.
