Are you sure it's safe to play on, with the stand looking like it's going to fall in on itself, and the amount of graffiti everywhere, I'd be worried about shit like Glass and Needles on the pitch. If you take a look at the pictures or been there prior to 2006, then you would of seen how great of a footballing ground it was. It played home to every St George Soccer Association grand final, to the U11 and 12s metro, St George youth and first grade, was listed as a suitable home ground for STGI Dragons and Sydney FC, but it could only hold 15,000. Everyone knew the hallowed ground at Barton Park was the very home of football in St George, and area with a stronghold on football. Everyone knoew that and it. 'Bout the ground though, before 2006, was fine. Sure there were a few chairs ripped up, but it was kept in good shape. However at the end of the 2006 season, the grandstand was deemed unsafe and unstable, with the grandstand, just like WIN this year, near collapse, and St George Saints, aka St George Budapest, played their last game there. The youth were moved to Peakhurst Park (mind you, is a sh*thole), and the seniors played at Belmore Sports Ground, the home of O-LYM-PIC! for season 2007. There was constant speculation about the ground, with flats being the most solid due to its proximity to Mascot Airport. While the stadium was unoccupied, it demised to utter nothing. Once the home of the strongest NSL team, the stadium resembled more of a dark alley then a classy football venue. The grandstand was constantly tagged, windows were smashed, change rooms vandalised, nearly every seat was ripped up, rubbish and litter all over the field, gates pulled down; you get the point, it looked terrible. But, contrary to everyone’s beliefs, St George, with support of Rockdale Council, did the impossible, and managed to secure the lease of it. In early 2009, St George relied on the support of their footballing family of their club and area. Parents, kids and general football-lovers came in for a massive clean up and got the ground to ...well it looked like an actual ground. Now, it's perfectly fine. Field is decent, they've set up seating on the other side, fixed the changerooms. The grandstand is still condemned, and I would LOVE for it to be fixed, but for a ground that has never been refurbished since its creation in 1978, I doubt it. The line on wikipedia sums it up: Once the home ground of a dominant NSL team, it appeared that the days of the 15,000 seat stadium were numbered. So enjoy my history lesson keen footballing students.

Italy 27-10 USA. Bit alarming as we're relying on the Azzuri to do us a favour on the Irish.
