At least there were goals, fun moments from the Qatari striker and active support bigger than the Yellow Army at the game. I enjoyed it

Congrats to all Brisbanites who bought the venue pack, which I reckon were the least sold of all venues. $139 (Cat C) for 7 games, including 2 Socceroo matches.

Newy venue packers might cash in as well, could get a SF and third place play-off involving the Socceroos, along with the other group games.

Oh YEAH!... Has cost my mate $160 to go to both these socceroos games in brissy.
Here I am seeing it all for $140 that I paid back in May for 7 games.
So a nice meal and plenty of beer money in my Budget...

Venue packs were a bargain especially for brisbane before the whole aus in the qtr finals. We had all the top teams playing with big games, aus v korea is worth $100 on its own. Iran v UAE, jordan v iraq (big implications on going through). China games. Japan playing with their big stars. and a qtr feature s. korea or australia. it was worth it even with a hand full of games. I'm surprised more people didn't get them. i would have thought the 10k roar members would have gotten them. how many was sold?

In that 22k crowd for Iran/Qatar last week, would you fellow people who also went to the game say that you thought there were 10-15k Iran supporters?

In that crowd last night for Bahrain/Qatar, I saw maybe 100 supporters for either team (that's if you discount the Bahrain Ultraz in their CCM, Sydney FC, Manure jerseys  ). It didn't even seem the Qatar fans who were at the Iran game were even there last night.

Yep. Vast majority were Iran supporters. There was a pocket/bay of Qatar supporters at the top tier facing the camera.

Heard not as many sold as expected. Brisbane isn't a sports supporting city on the whole.
They will clamor onto band wagons like Brisbane Lions 4 peat and Roars winning run.

They love finals and grand finals but that never seems to turn into regular season supporters (eg Reds or Roar.)

BUT... The sports loving fans they do have are worth double the flogs, Ive had a great time going to these games, meeting new people in the pubs and looking forward to a full strength socceroos show down with China (whose fans have been the best and loudest at suncorp so far).

the roar attendances are always strange to me.

Brisbane is having a horrible season, 0 wins at home and they are averaging 15,255   . Last season they averaged 18k, in the season where rado was the brains they averaged 13k. It appears as though they have developed some sort of core fan base over the years. Of course they can not touch Melbourne or Sydney (now with 2 teams) but i always expect them to have shit crowds like that season where ange took over

would be great if we get more than 600,000.

Question does the AFC receive any money from this? I would assume this is the most expensive Asian Cup given the cost of living in Australia, although stil very affordable for the locals.

I think this proves once and for all that there is no conspiracy with the AAMI Park crowd figures

There is no way in hell security would have been waving people through the gates without scanning tickets, as is a common claim whenever crowd figures don't meet expectations

And there is no way an accurate crowd figure wouldn't have been reported, or purposely underestimated by part of some elaborate AFL conspiracy

You have to take the official capacity listed with a grain of salt. It's "possible" for 31000 to attend but a run of the mill sell out or near sell out isn't going to be much different to what the derbies have been getting where fans have been saying "There is no way there were 6,000 empty seats!!!1!!"

Got to remember the Media section (I will not use the term "tribune" for this), in newcastle it takes up almost 3000 seats with another few hundred roped off around it.

I can tell you that the:

Final:

Based on my tickets purchased last night was at PAX 39,919, so it’s tracking ok until people find out the teams.

Quarter Final:

Based on tickets purchased today for Sydney (Japan v UAE), PAX number is at a paltry 16,040. They really should get 30,000 at least to watch Japan based on their performance last night.

I've bought the tickets without the game packages but it seems like very low numbers to me. Mind you my ticket for the Iran vs Qatar game where my ticket stated 27,081 - the final crowd ended up being 23,000 odd.

Hopefully more chickens can lay a few more eggs before Friday night, otherwise it will be quite an "atmosphere" at Homebush...

Sydney should get 30k for the Japan game, a large number of Japanese fans have been arriving in Australia for the Quarters. I would assume they have yet to buy tickets.

So Canberra finished the Group Game stage with an average of 10,580 including 3 games over 10k and one over 15k (lots of Chinese fans though) which is pretty respectable in my opinion, and a QF to come that should draw well. When you consider several of their games were pretty dull, and 2 were played in the rain as well as several at early k/o on a weekday. I think with a better stadium they've shown there is decent enough support for an A-league side to do well there.

Melbourne will have heaps of empty seats bought by Socceroos fans who will now be staying home or going to the pub to watch on tv.

Not so sure about that.

Given that Uzbek and South Korean fans would likely be searching for tickets, any that people have tried to offload will likely be taken up.

Some will likely not bother turning up, but the game should still be interesting. It will be a warm, humid night though.

corporate packages for the tournament are sold by the afc rather than by the stadium itself, therefore the stadium's long list of contacts arent provided to the afc and they are sold to the afc's contacts which are mainly non-australians and hence the poor corporate turnouts we've seen so far, even at australian games.
