Quote:hina coach Alain Perrin has blasted the condition of the Suncorp Stadium surface in the wake of his side's 1-0 Asian Cup win over Saudi Arabia. Parts of the pitch were relaid earlier in the week but there were still significant patches of visibly uneven turf, leading the Frenchman to describe Saturday night's surface as "very, very, very, very bad". And it's unlikely to get any better in a hurry - the Brisbane stadium will host six more games, including China's next outing against Uzbekistan on Wednesday night as well as a quarter-final. "It doesn't deserve the competition, this pitch," Perrin said. "(I am) very surprised. Training ground is much better than competition pitch." Teams in Brisbane have prepared on immaculate surfaces at Perry Park and the Queensland Sport and Athletic Centre in the lead-up to games at Suncorp Stadium. There will be little time for ground staff to improve the pitch with Jordan and Iraq to meet there on Monday night. http://www.theage.com.au/sport/soccer/asian-cup-2015-china-coach-alain-perrin-slams-suncorp-surface-20150111-12ls3t.html What has happened to Suncorp, it regularly used to have one of the league's best surfaces. Did the flooding a few years back do significant damage that hasn't been repaired? Seems odd.

Sharing it with the Broncos and Reds shouldn't matter fuk all either, cause I remember that pitch looking immaculate all year round years back, it didn't matter that their was so much usage. Regardless, stadium management needs to be held accountable for the current state its in. Patchy as fuk. Completely unacceptable.

Went to this game last night and had an unreal time. Not a bad game either. The Chinese fans were fucking awesome, were giving away free flags and shirts and just generally good people. Very few came out for beers on Caxton St afterwards though. Have a feeling there are several pictures/videos of me and my mates on China's version of instagram. We were immersed in the section with most of the active-type support (they had a capo, he didnt speak a lip of English) and had our photo taken with about 60 different people from the rows around us.
Dont understand why people wore socceroos jerseys to the game!

Dont understand why people wore socceroos jerseys to the game! Why not? Its common practice for host nation fans to attend neutral games in home colours. What did you expect them to wear?

The China coach should be thanking the state of the surface - Saudis are and were the better footballing team.

I saw people wandering the streets of West End yesterday in (old) Socceroo shirts. Maybe it's some kind of weird cult?

I find it weird to wear a jersey supporting a team who isnt there. Its not like your socceroos jersey is just layong around, you'd have to conciously decide to wear it, but they arent playing... I dunno. Weird OCD thing I guess, everything in its place, etc. Edited by roary's mane: 11/1/2015 06:22:22 PM

Think of it as celebration of football, I think its brilliant. Also, some people have plenty of different socceroos jerseys, enough for each day of the week. \:d/ \:d/
