I always find these promotions odd. Really they do more for the "guests" as they get to promote their event to a captive local audience (i.e. the membership base). The international fans of the tennis player etc couldn't give a stuff about which ever sport it is.

Yep. The other two are Mikhail Youzhny and Goran Ivanisevic. It made me look up who's playing this event so the promotion worked :lol:

All of this. Football clubs always use celebrities or people from other sports to promote themselves. Every time the Kangaroos tour England a football club always get a few of the players to the club for a promo opportunity.

I thought about writing Man City asking them not to do this, but clearly time got away from me.

The point is that these marketing ploys, which undeniably is more of an AFL marketing classic than any other, are ultimately extremely painful and cringeworthy. In fact it would be better if the AFL stick to free tickets.
