But with only 3~4 teams even up to world standard in this confederation, winning with the likes of Kuwait, Oman and China feathers in the cap is kind of like fighting below one's weight division. There is no one in the Asian Confederation who are up to world standard, the best are still a long way below the best in the world.

It'd be a win, sure, but something of a hollow one, and any German football fan would admit it.

I think the Australia, Korea and Japan have sort of stagnated, Iran has improved, while the mid-tier teams have improved immensely and have become alot more competitive.

South Korea ( who best us) , Iraq (who won 8 years ago) and UAE are decent enough that us winning the Asian cup would still feel great to me regardless of japan. There is enough talent in this competition without it just being about japan. The socceroos have not won any silverware in over 10 years as best as I can recall. Frankly winning the Asian cup would be awesome regardless of who we play.

If those teams were good enough to beat the bigger name teams then they deserve to be there.

My opinion of Omar has dropped a lot in this game. Typical ariban spoiled brat mentality.
If Japan get through they will lift hugely for Australia. Only question can they press us for entire game.
