Was kind of worried about the Vietnamese U16 side given the success of their Barcelona academy and some of their previous results against us, but judging from their results it looks like they've been a bit ordinary this tournament.

Watched the first half with my old man, and we both agreed that we'd never seen a game where the physical disparity had been so vast. Height and strength made ball winning far too easy for Australia.

Being bigger really only helps in aerial duels. Will be interesting to see how they go against a team that will not afford them all the space they got in the first half in particular and with bigger bodies. Hopefully this is just the start of the kids starting with the SAP stage. It was really nice to watch at times. Being stocky helps. It is not so much a question of height, but muscular bulk and effective technique helps. Short stocky players like Diego Maradona shielded the ball well. South American, and even Japanese and Korean players do it better than us.

It is a shame a lot of the critics of the direction FFA have taken don't see these new high calibre players. They are the products of a very different development system. Craig Johnston would be one who has no idea there are players of this calibre coming through the ranks.

Craig Johnston would say they have a poor first touch. ;) In all seriousness though i hope this group(under 15s) does well and qualifies for next years AFC Cup and even important the under 17s do well at the World Cup this year, it might surprise a few people if they can get some good results. You should be very proud. I've been in the FFA coaching system. We've never had players of this calibre coming through the ranks.=d> The best senior players have acquired a lot of aspects of new FFA European style coaching, but they just don't have the level of technique your son's team do. Their coaching was not good enough in the age bracket of 9-13. Your son is in a vanguard of graduates of SAP and Skilleroos, before the NTC. They realised that by the time they got into the NTC at a minimum 13 years of age, it was too late.

Although it was synthetic the pitch was surprisingly quite bumpy and often it was difficult to control the ball, but then again these kids would make current a-league players average when it comes to technique in those pitch conditions. I have never seen him so excited to represent the green and gold. At a guess they would all feel the same way. As for the directive and where it comes from I haven't spoken to him about it. As for Interest from overseas for any of the players. ..I have no idea.

I really hope there are some streams for this game, Cambodian TV obviously broadcast the Cambodian game but I can't see any penciled in for this game as of yet.
