And Ryan Edwards shouldn't be anywhere near this team.
Other wise its a decent squad.

Agree. Clut should have been selected.
Edited by Krusen: 26/8/2015 11:03:51 PM Indeed, good news with Degenek. =d> Ryan Williams' omission a minor surprise - featured in recent games, but I guess with the transition to Barnsley the Vidmar and co rightly saw it best to let him settle at his new club and push for his place there. Expect Williams to be re-called down the track, especially if he features for Barnsley as he did with them on-loan last season. Awer Mabil may've also been a call-up chance, but also rightly given time to settle and impress at his new club. SCorey Goalmeiro has his chance too, to push back into the side with a strong A-League start with City. He hopefully will, as goodness knows we need all the goalscoring options we can get. Given all that talent pushing from behind (Including Clut), these wide attacking players should be least secure in their positions - competition should be fierce. Curtis Good should be a definite re-call, provided he's fit and featuring - he will need another loan-out again, less his prospects with Newcastle have somehow increased? Ange will be a keen observer too, given how he performed against Ecuador last year. But whether it's Good, Burgess, Degenek or Geria - we need them playing more regularly at senior club level! And I'm sorry, but I must say it's a relief that Corey Brown didn't make the cut this time. LB is much stronger with Smith and the promising Woodcock in the squad.

Quote:Joeys prepare to face USA and France Saturday, 29 August 2015 - Staff writer Comments The Joeys have arrived in France as they prepare for some invaluable international experience ahead of October’s FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile. The Aussie U-17 side will play matches against the USA and France next week as well as the Stade Rennais Youth Team in Limoges. Football Federation Australia’s Technical Director Peter de Roo said the European tour had to be organised quickly and was crucial to the squad's developement following this month’s FIFA U-17 World Cup draw. "Originally we had a tour planned to Argentina. We had committed to play the AFA U-17 team twice and possibly Uruguay or Chile,” said de Roo. “After the draw the Argentinians weren't too keen on playing us anymore because we were drawn in the same group for the U-17 World Cup. "That meant that we had to act quickly and change our plans. That was how this tour to France came about. “We are going to play a local team and after that we will start the tournament and play against France, the USA and Ligue One club, Stade Rennais’ Youth Team.” De Roo, who helps take charge of Australia’s Centre of Excellence program in Canberra, went on to say the matches would help determine the squad Australia took to Chile in six weeks time. "For us this tour is all about finalising our squad for the World Cup,” he said. “The European based players will be here together with the full time FFA CoE squad and some Australian based players who are not part of the full-time Program. “We will also use our time here off course to work on our playing style and test ourselves against the European Champions and a strong USA team. "We all look forward to the World Cup and the opportunity to test ourselves against the best teams in the world; as far as we are concerned October cannot come quick enough.” Australia begins its FIFA U-17 World Cup Chile campaign against Germany on October 18, before taking on Mexico, and finishing with Argentina. All of the Joeys’ group stage matches will be at the Estadio Municipal Nelson Oyarzún Arenas, Chillán, 400km south of Santiago. Joeys European Match Details 2 September: Australia v USA @ 3pm (Stade Beaublanc) 4 September: Australia v Stade Rennais Youth Team @ 3pm (Stade Beaublanc) 6 September: Australia v France @ 7pm (Stade Beaublanc) * local kick-off times All matches will be played at Parc Sports News De Beaublanc Stadium, Limoges France. Joeys Squad for France International Friendlies: Panos Armenakas (Udinese Calcio, Italy) Daniel Arzani (FFA Centre of Excellence) Jackson Bandiera (FFA Centre of Excellence) Joe Caletti (FFA Centre of Excellence) Nicholas D'Agostino (Brisbane Roar FC) Henry Davies (FFA Centre of Excellence) James Delianov (FFA Centre of Excellence) Lucas Derrick (Melbourne Victory FC) Charlie Devereux (FFA Centre of Excellence) Jamie Dimitroff (FFA Centre of Excellence) Duro Dragicevic (FFA Centre of Excellence) Perry Fotakopoulos (FFA Centre of Excellence) Josh Hope (FFA Centre of Excellence) Cameron Joice (FFA Centre of Excellence) Danny Kim (FFA Centre of Excellence) Josh Laws (Fortuna Dusseldorf, Germany) Daniel Maskin (FFA Centre of Excellence) Gian Mendez (unattached) Brandon Osipov (FFA Centre of Excellence) Nicholas Panetta (FFA Centre of Excellence) Kosta Petratos (FFA Centre of Excellence) Aaron Reardon (FFA Centre of Excellence) Jamal Reiners (FFA Centre of Excellence) Kye Rowles (FFA Centre of Excellence) Jonathan Vakirtzis (Melbourne Victory FC) Malcolm Ward (FFA Centre of Excellence) Pierce Waring (Melbourne Victory FC) Read more at http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/article/joeys-prepare-to-face-usa-and-france/18acr8ea5twyp19k5og8v6fr27#lwvCp7265W4YobzK.99 Interesting that Gian Mendez is now uncontracted, it seems like he got released by Valencia. Also there is no Brimmer, Gorgovski lad from Dortmund or that kid from Watford. Edited by Barca4life: 29/8/2015 09:00:17 PM

No this is the group that are predominantly born 1999 with some 2000. Most have been full time at the AIS for 18 months with some overseas based players in as well. This is preparation for the world cup in Chile in October that these players qualified for by getting into the semi finals of the AFC u17 cup.

D'agostino played 30 mins for the roar against Liverpool, Arzani is a very clever player if allowed , Maskin when wide has excellent 1v1 and Rowles if he is finally fit is the most accomplished ball playing center back you will see. 7 qlders in this group only 1 in the age below, what went wrong ?

LB is much stronger with Smith and the promising Woodcock in the squad. It really is a worry if Woodcock or Brown see any minutes playing for Australia at any level. Both have been utterly rubbish every time i've seen them play. Woodcock has probably been the worst player for SFC so far this pre-season. Not sure if he's not fit but seems so far behind a younger Gersbach it's not funny. Hopeless in attack and defence. Brown much the same. Although Gersbach isn't fit yet so there;s no chance he could have been called up in any case.

In the Jets youth team i believe.

I assume in QLD the under 15s/14s have a weak cohort compared to other states? Or they could be underdeveloped physically i.e RAE effect?

Sorry Barca i was being sarcastic for the benefit of i dont know who. The development of players in Qld has taken a huge hit because of the way NPL was introduced and is now run.

Surprising as last year at the u14's Coff habour tournament the QLD boys did well. Comes down to opinion's in the end.

Surprising as last year at the u14's Coff habour tournament the QLD boys did well. Comes down to opinion's in the end. I am fully aware of the results and the performance of the Qld u14s at Coffs and also believe the same 2 coaches will present another team this year that produces results and performance equal to last years. However the results and performance are not the measure at u14s its how many players are identified for the next level and last years result was nil, zero, nobody. Now this is not a reflection on those who selected and coached the team at Coffs but the process that develops the pool of players to be selected from and that is NPL.
