Also the kid from Liverpool the defender Dylan Ryan? Not sure about this surely you should looking the very best players and not just select from the FFA COE, whom i have nothing against im sure they are talented within their own right but i'm surprised they did not the select the players that did really well last time. Anyway i wish the young lads all the best, great experience. There is about 12 changes to the squad that went to Vietnam 2015. Most of the boys that are not going were looked at over the last few months. TD mentioned that there are about 60-70 players in total that could possibly be selected for the qualifiers. I can understand how they would want to take the boys from the COE for this tournament but will be interested to see who is selected for the next. Its been 12 months so some boys may have dropped off and others excelled in their development. Either way you would think the best possible lads will go to India.

Next week the U16s begin their AFF adventure. Very keen to see how these boys progress and hopefully they bring back the silverware from Vietnam.

IMO having had the chance to look at this group it is not as strong as the squad that travelled last year due to a number of players declining offers from the FFA. Those players who have been brought in are I believe not at the same level.
This creates a difficult position for the coe staff, do you back the boys who have made the sacrifice to leave home for 2 years and live in Canberra or do you bring in those that declined. The problem is made harder by the specific playing style that De roo refers to and the players ability to bring it to life.

You pick the best players and leave politics out of it. There's a few non COE players, so why not just select our best players and be done with it!

As what Clivesundies mentions this isnt probably the best side, i hope when it comes to the AFC qualies they select the best available that was from last year and perhaps look at some of the overseas boys. We know in Asia qualify isnt easy at all, we should not be playing any more russian roulette anyone when it comes underestimating the opposition in Asia and so should select the best possible team. Maybe the coaching staff want to expose these players to international level to see which ones can handle that level and then take the ones that did well and select the other boys that did well last year that aren't part of the FFA Coe?
