There's never much chance of a company of that size being wound up over such a sum. In the end it's cheaper for both parties to settle. Sometimes when there is genuine passion involved a person (more-so than a company) will go the whole way just to be a bastard and to hell to with the cost.

What usually happens is the the debtors tell the judge they will pay by such and such a day and the other side agrees. The Court stamps it.
You don't show up again and casually say to the Court "I changed my mind and I'm not going to do it". That's asking for trouble.
