Our Fullbacks are shit but Elrich has played in a back 3 before and impressed. Milligan to float between CB and CDM and Rogic and Burns to have free reign to do as they pleases. Dominate Possession and move the ball with speed in the final third. Cahill has been rather unhelpful up front in games where we are the dominant side and i thought we looked far more dangerous without him since the Asian Cup.

The reality is that I can't see Ange moving away from a 4-3-3, Rogic won't start or he won't be on for long (thank fuck) and i doubt Cahill won't start.

What I expect to see

If Ange was smart he wouldn't play McKay

Who do you guys think should get called up as a replacement for the injured Jedinak?

I think Kilkenny deserves a recall. Brillante 0 game time so it won't be him. I'm thinking most likely Rostyn Griffiths or James Holland will get the call though.

In this team, McKay is is one of the most experienced, which is a quality highly sought after with a youngish team.

No but his face is very punchable. He shouldn't get a run based on this fact alone.

But in all seriousness we should be looking for more youth for this match.

Don't need too much defense, and I reckon Oar is better than Leckie against defences that will sit back. And he's better than Leckie at crossing to Cahill, but who'll be useful against a deep defence where pace isn't as important.

Griffiths or Degenek. But Degenek has been called up to the olyroos from memory.

I don't particularly like McKay but he does a job for the NT and I respect him for that. He is generally very composed on the ball and doesn't overcomplicate his game. His best quality is his fitness which allows him press the opposing midfield for a long period of time which is massively important for our game plan. We wouldn't have looked as good as we did against recent tough opposition if he wasn't playing. I'd prefer a midfield of Milligan, Rogic and Luongo but for now McKay balances out the squad and that's important.

Right well then move Milligan to DM and start Rogic or Mooy next to Luongo but I expect he'll start McKay (boring).

I'd like to see us go back to the 4-23-1, having two players who can pass in the pivot would make it more effective than the last time we used it with Jedinak imo.

4-2-3-1 would probably work better for us seeing how useless Cahill is in Build up play.

Against what will probably be stacked defence's having Rogic as the player to move between the lines and receive the pass from Millsy/Luongo should hopefully open up space for Leckie and Kruse to maneuver around Cahill.

As effective as our 433 was in the Asian Cup, I can't help but feel that it's needlessly static atm., even in our last qualifier there was little movement from our wide players, not opening up the space for our full backs to get to the byline like Ange loves.

Completely agree. It feels completely rigid because players aren't rotating between positions. Cahill staying central and constantly playing of the last defender means the wide men don't have much space to cut inside. Luongo makes up for it because he likes to float wide and overload the wing which I approve of but it's not enough.

I want to see Juric, Burns or even Leckie given time at CF so that our wide players can be more effective playing as "Wide Forwards" rather than just orthodox wingers looking for Cahill's head.

Wilkinson missed the last match for his club. Is he injured?

Don't mind your lineup JLM, we're light on at RB, so Elrich is a must. Would rather see Wright given a chance instead of Wilko. Wouldn't mind seeing Leckie play as a centre forward and Burns out on the wing.

That or sorting a transfer back to Australia perhaps?

With Jedinak out injured Brahs, midfield of Milligan, Luongo AND wait for it......RRoggiicc baby!!! could be our best mid in 10 years I'd say.
