He is almost like a marking cone in terms of being a useful part of build up play or attacking interplay. I'm reading his biography ATM. David Moye rates him as one the best headers of the ball in the world. In terms of goalcraft, I think Cahill is still improving, even in his mid thirties. He scores effortlessly with both feet, even off balance. Plus his heading is out of this world. His ability to time runs is also phenomenal. Edited by Decentric: 11/11/2015 07:41:10 PM

Rogic will start - it is a game in his home town (agains a weak opposition) the crowd will respond to that to give us a bit more of an edge. Mooy Jedi Rogic, behind juric oar and burns.
I think he used to play RB for CCM. Given Risdon's potential I hope Ange will start him at RB. Spira's worst game for Oz was at LB. It would be interesting to see Sains there. How fast is Sains over the turf? Sainsbury is deceptively quick - but of the non RB playing at RB Milligan is better than Wilkinson who is better than Sainsbury. His times at RB for CCM were not his best moments. As for LB I wouldn't contemplate it. Given Ange's squad I think Meredith will start there.

I'm hoping for:
------------------Feds Risdon--Sains--Wright--Meredith --------------Jedinak ---------Milligan---Rogic Troisi--------Juric--------Oar
Rather not risk Ryan. Risdon>McGowan Keen on seeing more of Wright and Sains. Meredith has been called up again, so Ange likes him... Keen to see him. Ange has pretty much said that Jedinak is in... Minutes will Be good for him. Milligan is a weapon in midfield, taking him over Luongo for defensive reasons. Rogic picks himself IMO. No Leckie, Burns doesn't do that well on the right, so Troisi is my preference. Juric upfront. Scores goals and will contribute more than Cahill. Oar might do well in this game... So why not?

Two on debut and Wright with only half a dozen games in a vital qualifier is a I think a step too far. Wilkinson will start

If this was an away game I'd be slightly nervous but I don't think we have much to worry about. Last time we played them on a cow paddock with a very hostile crowd and still managed to win even though we played terribly. I think this time it's different. After having a good think about it, this is what I think Ange will go with: Federici McGowan - Wilko - Sains - Meredith Jedinak Mooy - Rogic Burns - Juric - Troisi I think McGowan will get the nod over Risdon purely due to experience, even though I'd probably give Risdon a go. In midfield it's a real toss up between Mooy and Milligan, but Jedinak is back so I think Mooy will get the nod and will work in tandem with Rogic. Would love to see a Wright/Sains combo, I really think that's the future but I reckon Ange will pick the now experienced Wilko. Up front with Leckie out and Troisi back playing, I think we'll see Burns on the right and Troisi on the left. Juric deserves to get the nod over Cahill.

Slightly concerning that a couple of years into his job and ange still hasn't figured out his starting 11 and also changes the back four constantly.
Lucky we are playing the countries we are.

That's a different story in itself. Hopefully FIFA come to their senses. Surely they could play the game in India or something?

Up front with Leckie out and Troisi back playing, I think we'll see Burns on the right and Troisi on the left. Juric deserves to get the nod over Cahill. Agree with most of this. I think Spira is still our best CB when fit. He and Sains work very well together. Spira is becoming an enforcer to augment his distribution qualities. It sounds like Ange will play Jedi - inexplicably. So Milligan could be left out in the attacking midfield triangle. If the lumbering Jedi plays, ( who is still a good footballer) Ange almost needs to play the very fast and athletic Troisi in attacking mid to nullify the lighting fast and effective Krygystan counterattacks. I read an article recently, where the Socceroo coaching staff have deemed Kruse, Leckie, Troisi and McKay as super athletes, particularly Leckie. We will miss Leckie's tracking back now he is injured when they have the ball. If Ange plays Milligan in an advanced position with Mooy, their tough tackling and physicality could disturb build ups further up the pitch, unsettling Krygystan in areas of the pitch where they are used to doing the enforcing. It worked against Germany. Ange seems to want to play Luongo as a narrow winger. In the last game when I looked at the stats against Jordan, we had 9 shots on target. They had 3. We had 12 shots at goal in total to their 7. We also spent nearly 80 % of the game in their half. We also had 76% total possession. So we should've won, but we didn't. Maybe Ange will play the undercooked Jedi, because if Spira is out, the five players behind him in the defensive lines have not played much international football, although Wiko has played World Cup football. Also, Ryan, Wilko and Sains have played a lot of football together at CCM. I hope Troisi starts, because he has done well in Socceroo games and can play LW or attacking mid effectively. I think Juric could be the central striker, because with his size he does a lot of bullocking work and unsettles defences, even with a poor first touch at times. His bullocking won us the Asian Cup. Hopefully, he has improved from his time at Roda. In the last game against Jordan he had a central physical presence that Leckie and Cahill didn't, even though they are reasonable in this area too. Juric probably provides more opportunities for teammates from his play than Leckie or Cahill as central strikers. Lucky we are playing the countries we are. In his defence we have had a numerous amounts of injuries and squad issues. Good response to your own post, mate.=d> I agree with your post agreeing with yourself.=d> :d I think if fit, Ange has settled on Ryan as keeper and Spira and Sains as first choice CBs, along with the bemusing Davo at LB. Hopefully, Risdon can nail down RB, whilst Franjic is injured and the enigmatic but talented Herd sorts his life out away from the Socceroos. Disappointingly, a CCM fan said Risdon was burnt for pace by Ferreirra and Mitch Austin. We need players of similar speed to Leckie as full backs. Michael Zullo has great speed. Readers reading this thread should give The Select Few a pat on the back for setting this thread up. Many of us discussed doing it, but nobody did anything about it . Credit to TSF.=d> In time this thread will become one of the most popular threads on 442.

Nah nup, McKay still in the team. Ange deserves criticism. Injuries my ass. Ange needs to work out the back 4 properly cos so far ok. He has mixed that up a lot. If he picks 2 solid CB, he needs to go with the same ones consistently so Sainsbury and Wilko, or most likely Wright will be the pair. Feel sorry for him in the LB/RB dept. With out Franjic (who I think isn't that good NT wise) his back 4 has changed considerably. It doesn't help that his Elrich and Davo consistently do not play well. Jamieson and Risdon may just notch caps in the next NT games

I may only have seen his good games though. What do WSW fans think about Jammo as a Socceroo? I just hope nobody says he has been burnt for pace. We desperately need lightning speed at LB. Matty has always done well in central midfield. He has a great engine too. It is just who to leave out? It didn't help his cause when Holger played him as LB. Milligan came in and did well as DM under Holger. Edited by Decentric: 12/11/2015 12:09:49 PM

What is going on with Smith's club career?
He could do with a sustained stint of 2 years regular football in the HAL at LB.
He is very quick over the turf.

Edited by Decentric: 12/11/2015 12:10:31 PM It's funny bcos if the salary cap scandal had not happened, Risdon and Jamieson may have seen Perth win the A-league. Now that would have been massive for both of their careers but of course never happened. I think both of them can play big. Naturally if Elrich and Davo aren't playing consistently well then Jamieson and Risdon should be hot on their heels playing so well in the A-league for quite some time now. I actually worry that Elrich got a call up but hey Adelaide made it to the finals last season where Perth were disqualified. Lost the FFA Cup as well to Adelaide so I guess Elrich is the preferred popular next in line pick by Ange. With Franjic out we can't just stand around and not think about RB, he's actually been out so long now you wouldn't bother even using again. How would this quandary bode for the Spain national team ? I mean with player out for so long, I don't believe I've ever seen Ramos out for like years ? :?

Last year one thing that really impressed me about the Glory defence with Vuka behind a back four of Risdon, Djulbic, Thwaite and Jammo, with Griffiths screening, is they were able to withstand sustained periods without the ball. They were very compact.=d> This is hard to achieve requiring great concentration , good communication, optimum distancing and good coaching. Edited by Decentric: 12/11/2015 12:52:18 PM

He is very quick over the turf. He'd be gagging for minutes, I don't know the situation for young English players there unless you're a young Wayne Rooney and teams are frothing at the thought of picking you up Must be the AUssie U21's not having enough class to compete with other nations U21's as well. But if this was for example Germany, they wouldn't think twice about picking from the youth basket to make the Senior team stronger. Same for SPain, Brazil etc. Another thing I think Ange and staff are slightly cautious (maybe overcautious?) about and yep he's still w/ Liverpool.. hope england hasn't given up on him that's all as he played youth NT with em "He formed a deadly combination with Raheem Sterling at U18 level."http://www.thisisanfield.com/2015/03/what-does-the-future-hold-for-some-of-liverpools-u21-players/http://www.liverpoolfc.com/team/academy/player/brad-smithmaybe an A-League team would pick him up, but looks like he would be making a move sometime soon going off the first link Edited by highkick05: 12/11/2015 01:26:00 PM
