The start of season is fast approaching and as has been the case the previous two seasons, 2016 will kickoff with the second round of Westfield FFA Cup Brisbane Zone Qualifying action in mid-February,
Which is officially classed as Round 2, with the national round of 32 classified as Round 8 of Australia's national knockout competition by FFA.
Last season saw a number of 'cupsets', most notably Capital League 3 Virginia United's 4-2 away success at Premier League Capalaba in Rd3 Qualifying. It's a chance for the lower division sides to test themselves and who knows, perhaps one day reach the national stage.
This year, 61 teams from the Football Brisbane zone are involved in the competition with all Brisbane Premier League, Capital League 1, Capital League 2, Capital League 3, & Capital League 4 clubs involved.
To facilitate the draw reaching 10 Football Brisbane teams after Round 4 (6 Brisbane PS4 NPL Queensland teams enter in Round 5) 42 teams across the Football Brisbane region will each look to embark on a dream cup run that could land them a clash against a Brisbane Premier League or PS4 NPL Queensland opponent.
These teams will be all Capital League 4 (13 teams), all Capital League3 (12 teams), all Capital League2 (12 teams), and the 5 lowest ranked Capital League 1 teams based on positions on the 2015 ladder.
The following Brisbane Zone qualifying rounds will comprise the following break down.
Round 3 - The 21 winners from Round 2 will be joined by the remaining 19 teams (7 highest ranked Capital 1 teams based on positions on the 2015 ladder & all BPL teams) – 20 matches. Round 4 – 20 winners from Round 4 – 10 matches. Round 5 – 10 winners from Round 4 (plus the 6 Brisbane based PS4 NPL QLD teams) – 8 matches. Round 6 – 8 winners from Round 5 – 4 matches. Round 7 – 4 winners from Round 6 – 2 matches. Round 7 winners progress to the Westfield FFA Cup national Round of 32.
Below are the teams involved in Round 2 draw which will be made at the Clubs’ Meeting tomorrow (Wednesday night): Southside Eagles Grange Thistle Bayside United Souths United Centenary Stormers Annerley Brisbane Force Western Spirit Oxley United Ipswich City Redcliffe PCYC Park Ridge The Gap Pine Hills Slacks Creek Acacia Ridge New Farm United Newmarket Westside Toowong Tarragindi Tigers Narangba United Virginia United Ridge Hills United Jimboomba United AC Carina Clairvaux Bardon Latrobe Mooroondu Kangaroo Point Rovers Samford Rangers North Brisbane Greenbank Brighton Bulldogs Logan City Kings Logan Village Bethania Rams Caboolture Deception Bay Logan Metro Springfield United St George Willawong

Founded by Melbourne Victory fans and have only just entered the FFV this year. FFV forced them to rename to North Melbourne Athletic FC this year so i'm sure they wanted to keep the 07 on the badge to show it's the same club. http://www.footballchaos.com/index.php/news-blogs/news-archives/214-so-who-are-trojan-athletic-fc
