Just had a quick look at our pool, We play Hawkesbury away from home & Sydney Olympic play Wollongong United at home. If both United and Olympic win, then the round 7 fixture will be Sydney United vs Sydney Olympic @ Edensor to make it to the FFA CUP. very similar to South Melbourne vs Melbourne Knights a couple years ago.

What happened in the Altona vs South Melbourne match? As far as I've heard so far about the Altona Magic vs South Melbourne match, apart from the lights failing twice, the was a bit of crowd trouble. A South Melbourne fan was hit and burnt to the head/neck by a flare that was thrown. This was after South had just been awarded a penalty and its was 0-0 in the 2nd half. Then the lights went out again, the players left the field and the police were called. What has been alleged so far was that the flare was thrown by a group Preston fans who had come to the match and were then removed from the ground. There has been a history of South Melbourne/Preston crowd troubles. Edited by thewitness: 21/4/2016 10:08:09 AM

  Bit of an upset there I'd say. That said, Mounties are doing well this season in the NPL2. no disrespect to mounties, but it wasnt that they played well, we wer simply awful. 6 players out from the weekend but still the boys who came in for me simply didnt play well. mounties were ok, but how we lost that game i dont know. anyway, good luck to them in the next round. no cup run for us for this year.

6 changes? Were they forced or rotation? Clubs need to realise you must play your best team in these cup games. So much at stake now the majority of teams treat these games as grand finals.
We heavily rotated our squad last night but dont be fooled by the 3-0 score, altona had us by the balls and could have been a few up at half time. Fortunately we got away with it, huge risk though that could have ended in embarasment.

Fortunately we got away with it, huge risk though that could have ended in embarasment. Some forced some unforced. A completely different midfield, and 2 out of 3 attackers, was never going to be easy going forward. But credit to Mounties, they seemed like they wanted it more, especially when defending. They got a lot of bodies behind the ball and their transition was incredibly quick. Luck was on their side as well, their keeper slipped over during a one on one in the first half and saved it with his head...

At least Hakoah won so hopefully the game against Bonnyrigg will be at Hensley on the night that I train. Dunbar looked competitive against Bonnyrigg early on tonight but eventually the difference in individual quality was the difference. Dunbar had plenty of good chances in first half. That lob from the half way line was close. Bonnyrigg were clinical though and that was the difference. Entertaining game

Parking will be terrible if there is a crowd bit of a trek. The actual pitch itself is lush but there is only one tiny grandstand so many people will be standing looking forward to hosting you guys.

The GK wouldn't have saved it. Yes, Dunbar had their fair share of chances but once Bonnyrigg scored, they seemed to drop off. Looked good for an NPL3 team. They'll be up there with Rydalmere.

Were talking about Bensons Lane right. Its not that bad at all - breath in the fresh air United players should be have an extra lung or 3 lol...... Little grandstand is fine good viewing. Prior to the stand there is a grass hill to make use of, grass roots football, bring your fold up chairs you spoilt NPL supporters lol, plenty of room either side of the stand. The parking from the roadside maybe be useful but part viewing obscured by the home/away bench sheds and the wire fencing. Yep, thermals highly recommended !

Yep. And from my experience in State League 1 (NPL3 now) in the past three seasons, Hawkesbury play kick and chase and are extremely physical. I don't know what they eat up there but there are some really solid guys there.

Agree mate, I love the atmosphere at lower level grounds. Bensons maybe at the back of nowhere but the pitch itself is perfectly fine to play on, my only gripe some of these grounds should cut the grass shorter for this does have longer grass slowing the ball down more than usual. Maybe a tactic being the general size of their YL squads have some big units as mentioned :) Yes Footballlover last season and prior lots of hoof ball but this season U16's for eg were playing from the back far more so its looks as if a change has been implemented.

The pitch is not that great. Have you played on it? It's bumpy. Not as bad as Rydalmere BUT it still isn't perfect. Artificial pitches are the best thing. Who's the 16's coach? Is it still Nick? Coached against him for 2 seasons and it was always kick and chase. All he did was sign a quick front line and it worked at that level.
