There is mic as you can hear the car engine when he drives closer and eventually he talks, his reaction is just completely different to what mine would be

Horrible accident. It's going to make one very interesting episode of 'Air Crash Investigation'.

Very scary to just see it plunge out of the sky like that.

Cheers.

It can be a bit of both. But sometimes it can be that the stream is just of poor quality. How many places do you stream from?

Its usually every stream I can get my hands on from VipBox or First Row Sports. The only ones I've found that work without delay are LQ streams or a handful of EPL ones. Streaming for A-League has never worked well, but I'd assume thats because no one gaf's about it.

Best place for A League is on Justin Tv, got me through the last two seasons

It looks pretty bad. I'm not much for fashion, but trainers and jeans just looks awful IMO. Especially when you can get a cheap pair of canvas shoes which go a lot better and look nicer.

There's not really much you can do, besides from the usual positive thinking stuff. Although it's extremely unfair on you that they've put you in this position (I've been there) you just have to stick it out. Its really hard to give you advice because we don't know the individual involved, or why she/he is doing this.

Do your best to convince them to call whatever NZ's equivalent of Beyond Blue is. Nothing is an adequate substitute for professional help.

You don't have to toss everything to the side for this person (it sounds like you aren't particularly close to them?) but showing empathy and providing grounded advice such as "you should talk to these people" will help them feel a little less adrift.

My best friend has battled suicidal thoughts for over a decade now, it is an awful situation for all concerned. Just do your best.

Two ways you can deal with it, and depending on their personality getting it wrong can go horribly, horribly wrong.

Generally, you ought to just go for the support, positive thinking bullshit.

In reality they just need to be told they are being attention seeking and f*cking pathetic (9 times out of 10).

Good god don't do this, it's like telling people with anxiety to get over it.

IMO people who suffer from depression, anxiety or suicide thoughts are normally reserved and will be hesitant to talk about it even with there closest friends let alone someone you may just be ordinary friends with. If you have someone who constantly talks about it or seems fine talking about it with people they barely know, than that raises suspicions, unless its someone that's helping them.

Something I think works well is telling people that there is always hope and you have as much time as u want to change things around.

Sorry, I worded that poorly.

My experience with people that pull this bullshit, is that they are generally very attention seeking. You should never call them on it at the time, but I would strongly encourage you to at some point have a polite conversation with them about it, and if you know them well enough, and know it was bullshit, you MUST call them on it.

Many people that do this are serial liars who are upset (not suicidal) because they have destroyed key relationships in their lives with their bullshit. IF this is the case, it's so important to address this issue.

I've had that conversation with people who were very serious though, and that's never fun. Really stressful few minutes. But more often than not, my experience has been that its teenagers who just crave some attention, and can't find an appropriate way to get it.

Either way, always treat it seriously at the time, but afterwards, you have to get to the root of the issue, and deal with it accordingly.

Just to make it clear... I wasn't saying you should outright shut them down! And by no means am I having a go at people with depression!

I'm just saying that the majority of teenagers who 'tell you they're having suicidal thoughts' are talking out their arse because they are sad and wand attention. Discretion and caution are so, so important when choosing how to handle that.

The whole "give it 12/24/48/however many hours and then see if you've changed your mind" thing seems to work reasonably well.

I disagree with the notion that most suicidal thoughts are attention seeking. The person may not actually be going to kill themselves, but the thoughts and feelings can still be there, and that's very tough to deal with. All in all mental health and issues surrounding it is something that's pretty poorly understood.

Trust me, there is a big difference between emotional teenage girls desperate for attention and mental health issues.
Have witness both on many occasions and the difference is ridiculously clear to me. Maybe not always for other people, I'm not sure.

MOST teens talk about it late at night when hormonally their body is going crazy, they are deprived of sleep and make irrational decisions.

As an emotional teenage girl myself, it's not all for attention, that's another poor stereotype, and it's things like that that cause people to be reluctant to speak up.

You don't. Because if you know about it they're looking for attention/validation.

If you've genuinely got nothing left to live for then you don't really care for anyone else's contribution on the matter and you're not going to talk about it.

We've talked about suicide on here before. I stand by the stance that it's a selfish and immature act.

There's a difference between feeling suicidal and actually being ready/wanting to take your own life. If they're talking about it, then chances are they won't go through with it, but that doesn't mean that they aren't in a dark, scary place. They just want someone to listen and understand. There's nothing attention seeking about it, and when you say things like that you're driving people who are already feeling alone and isolated to be even further away.
