I'm making a couple posts because they are all different, big stories. First off the rank: Sainz signed to stay at Toro Rosso for 2017 http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/125034/sainz-gets-2017-toro-rosso-deal

Bloody hell what a last lap. Nico outbraked himself but am I the only one who thinks Hamilton also made an unsafe re-entry? He came back very aggressively but Nico cost himself second and a bunch of good points. It's decisions like that which make me think he isn't World Champion material, he's just not smart enough sometimes.

Edited by Chris_AUFC: 3/7/2016 11:49:26 PM i completely agree with this post, they are saying brakes issue however still not very smart i was not a fan of them booing Hamilton however he is friends with justin beiber so maybe he deserved that final race of Formula E coming up in a few minutes

yes, I think at times Nico reacts purely from emotion, easy to say hard to do in the heat of the moment but I feel his time having been 2nd fiddle to the prat has got the better of him. He's dieing so much to shut him up for a change he errored imo....even though prat went in too late agreed. Sorry, I love the prat being bood - he's a prick nuff said. Scotty Mac has signed for DJRTP for next season on.....

Scotty Mac has signed for DJRTP for next season on..... Yes, I'm on Rosbergs side for this. It's exactly what Hamilton has done to Rosberg in the past, and the only reason he ain't bitching and moaning is because he got the better luck and ended up with the 25 points. If he was our, or finished 4th, there's no doubt that "Nico hit me" would be ringing over the airwaves constantly.

Entirely Nico's fault in my opinion. Don't care what's been done in the past. A race is a race, and that's it. Nico didn't even try to turn.

DJR have come so far since Penske got involved, it's great to see after watching them fade into the background for a few years.
Hamilton has a reputation and we all know he's tried some questionable moves and tactics at times, but Rosberg isn't going to beat Hamilton at his own game. By giving in like that he's given Lewis the mental upper edge (although I think he already had it), and that's going to have a huge effect on the title race

Agree re DJR, he's been a woeful businessmen but the name lives on, thankfully Penske wanted to expand his Truck Distribution business lol....for without it DJR would be dried up I expect. They are now starting to reap the rewards of cash injection and better management from the Penske side, now they have got a grip of the series/cars and even better good steerers for the future. Whatever that series is to become after 2017 is another matter. Yes, Nico needs to just focus on HIS job and drive 110% - what happens after that meant to be.

Although, for 2018, I'm actually really hoping Grosjean gets the seat.

Kimi is the smart choice for now no doubt about it. Correct, just hope Ferrari find some more speed to challenge outright and the pairing is strong as !

honestly in my opinion i dont think kimi should be in Ferrari but that is how i felt about Rubens however that said he is currently equal to vettel in the championship so what do i know, i just feel he should do better than he is given his car but then again the championship proves me wrong, i wonder how Bottas would do at Ferrari

Bottas would be an interesting choice, but I don't know if he's who Ferrari need at the moment. They need to keep developing the car and he doesn't have the experience Kimi does to provide the same level of feedback

One of the worst British GP's I've seen. Fancy being penalised due to Team Radio rulings - ffs FIA have made some stupid decisions over the years and this one is just another. Tech, FIA rules and the sport moving ahead with todays world = F1 going as a spectacle and romance it once had getting worse and worse.

I love Silverstone but is the worst F1 I've seen in a long, long time. I don't mind the radio rules too much actually though, but the race was just like grass growing. I was staying up to watch the Euro final so I just watched a replay for the opener at Melbourne. That was a good race despite the issues. as well.

Yep, safety car start + VSC + the ridiculous restrictions in place on radio communication... this stuff is killing the sport.

Its been a given whats on today F1 car sooner or later moves into mass production for consumer cars, that I don't mind regards to new tech advances etcetc BUT the FIA need to consider what is best in the name of "racing" as the sport is meant to be that, racing on the track by man and machine. Racing now is run by the Pit Crew Manager and their tech read outs - the driver is a mere pilot just as astronauts run by Nasa Control, and you get penalised for a stupid radio embargo rule lol...... FFS - whats next.

I don't like the radio restrictions because it in itself is contradictory in a sense. These teams spend silly amounts of money on telemetry, pit crew equipment, training procedures etc., but now they're not even allowed to talk to the driver to relay any of this data? :S
I say screw that. Instead of trying to manufacture excitement (DRS, having to use both compounds during a race, etc.), just let them go for it. Give them a handful of each compound tyres for each event and let them develop their own strategy with them. Bring back the option to refuel. Let teams talk to their drivers.

The only really new thing I like over recent years, is the Q1, Q2, Q3 qualifying system. I miss the old, old tyre rules (simply put, tyre company brings two compounds, teams have practice sessions to make a decision on which company to use for qualifying and the race, I believe 6 compounds for both sessions)
