I wouldn't pay any attention to the Government Claims that Gulen is behind the Coup. The military doesn't apply any agenda other than its own. It could be that Erdogan is trying to mobilise opposition against the military.

The military won't go for anything remotely approaching Islam and have it attached to the State. The Kemalists in the military will never allow this insult to Ataturkism.

The military is however extremely Nationalistic.

If the Coup fails, Erdogan will be even more intolerable.

Turkish Police Chief says his policemen killed 16 soldiers during raid on Gendarmerie Headquarters in Ankara. Clashes continue.

At least 60 people dead apparently. Interior Ministry says that 5 generals and 29 colonels have been relieved of their duty and that at least one air force base is still in control of the insurgents.

Apparently something like 1500 military personnel arrested.

Russia goal in Syria is not to fight ISIS, Russia goals are 2 parts
1. Save Bashar al-Assad
2. force the USA to work with Russia in Syria , and use this as a way to make a deal on Ukraine (USA shut and Stop talking with Russia after Russia invaded Ukraine)

Russia can not let the USA defeat ISIS, because if ISIS is defeated before Russia has a deal with USA, then the USA govermenet (CIA) will next try to remover Bashar al-Assad....

Russia need to kill off the anti-Assad fighters, and leave the USA with a choice between Russia-Assad or ISIS....now sometimes Russia-Assad will attack ISIS and try and take ground off ISIS, but this doesn't mean RUSSIA wants to defeated ISIS
