edit: I can't do math. 4 goals.

 Wow. If he wasn't stuck in the COE structure he could be going places already. Hope he has a Euro passport.

The CBs need to sit higher. The midfielders are passing it 30 yards back when they reset.

 Speaking for your own marketing experiment.

Even CCM has made strides with their youth training facilities, to say nothing of Victory's youth earning promotion to the best league in the land after the A-League. It's not the other clubs' fault your team lied about having a youth policy.

Even if what you said is all true, it doesn't refute the fact that players naturally come from clubs playing competitively in the rest of the world, not cloistered away in an exclusive cabal in the capital.

there have been some moments where this team resembles the team from last year

a couple of standouts in midfield. I don't mind moric (although last years strikers were better who were they?)
also the right winger has has his moments

Agree that Brook should go to Europe ASAP and not stay at the FFA COE, he's a talent that needs to be around at a better environment.

Now 6-2 it appears the lads look quite tired now.

Great comeback given how they played prior to the second goal, much better.

If only they can play this sort intensity in the first half they could have won very comfortably.

people rag on the CoE all the time on here but it serves a purpose and is the centre that has gotten into an improved position. The idea is that australia will get to a stage where we won't need to CoE as a catch all and the weight can be taken up by clubs. When we get to that stage I would like to see us move to the french system where the CoE and NTCs will be dropped to a younger age group.

Half of these kids won't have an experience in this weather either and the other half have probably only encountered it last year. We really faded away after the group stages last year, it really takes its toll.

I think the FFA COE needs a shake up such as using for a different purpose for players and coaches or just remove entirely and use that money to help the a-league and NPL youth academies.

I.e They could turn the NTCs and the FFA COE as the way they run in France with Clairefontaine where its sorely used for player development and the team aspect is left with the clubs.
I read on somewhere here maybe Decentric said it that since the belgian guy has been here already the NTCs is now used to supplement the clubs and so they used for player development purposes the team stuff left to the clubs? i could wrong though...

The way i see this team since they have moved to that closed environment in canberra it has stifled their creativity and natural instinct as players and that wasn't the purpose when Ron smith was in charge 10 years ago when the AIS was used for the young socceroos.

Interesting to note that Vietnam could only draw 3-3 with the Philippines last night, a team that we beat 7-0 comfortably. Just shows how wildly the performances at youth level can vary.

And gents this is why we often underperform at youth level especially in Asia, we never identify or pick the best players for these teams.

He's hoping Gombau will change things up and buck the trend.

probably rested their first team?

Australia needs a draw against Malaysia to make the semis... would have been nice to rotate the squad in that match but may be nervous about messing it up!
