This is the second time and City got off lucky It's football, happens in every competition every year. The under dogs can beat the big boys in a one off game, heck they can even make a run of it like Auckland City does in the Club World Cup half the time. Imo it shows how thin the aleague is and needs a second div to underpin it.

I fail to see any correlation. Shit happens in cup football.

To be fair to them they scored a legit goal for the 2-0 and the equaliser was clearly offside, if it was an all A league clash it would be a scandal.

+x+xWSW vs Wellington should be interesting, Wellington has a much more settled squad and has been performing well in pre-season (including beating Beijing 2-1 in China a few days ago) but Krishna is away at the Olympics and we have no defenders (we are looking for two starting defenders for the season so will be playing squad players for this game). WSW have a less settled squad, but defensively should be better than us and have home ground advantage (despite it being a Wellington home game). I haven't watched a replay, but I was just at the ground and watched it live, basically in line with the linesman but on the other side and was thinking 'that fucking idiot is in an offside position' right before the pass. There was no reason for him to be so advanced that there was doubt in the linesman's mind. It's more dumb play from O'Donovan than anything else. He turned what could've been an easy decision into a line-ball one that went against him.

It was a dismal performance and one I think Tony Walmsley should lose his job for. No structure or real plan implemented and he has had two pre-seasons and a season to implement one.

Not saying that he was definitely offside, saying that in the moment, without the benefit of still images or replays, I was of the exact same opinion as the linesman. More an appeal for understanding why the decision was made rather than championing it as correct, I think we spend far too much time dissecting calls like this on here (though hopefully video tech will put an end to decisions like it and the inevitable 'we was robbed' bit that comes with em) Ultimately CCM were punished for being the poorer team on the night.
