1-1 in Hearts v Celtic after a 35 minute Hearts penalty. Time to bring on Rogic.

Ajax making it 1-3 in their favour as soon as I open their stream. :/
Goalscorer shooting over Dougall's last ditch slide too, but he won't be to blame.

+xShocking news revealed in this thread; some teams, including those just promoted from the third division of English football, don't possess players that have the skills of La Liga players.  I can only take a massive punt here and guess that their long ball tactics might be influenced by the fact that players that actually have the skills to play short passing games are in better sides, in better divisions. And clubs on the continent with much smaller budgets don't feel the need to play hoofball either imagine that, It's almost as if budget is not an ipso facto in playing style

Well over 75% possession for Ajax since that 3rd goal went in, but the English commentators praising their performance before that.

Da Silva on the bench. By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

That'll make Scott Sinclair popular at Celtic, absurd that celebrating with the fans got him a yellow.
All thanks to Rogic coming on, of course.

Hopefully he provides something in the last moments to push him into contention.

Having a hard time telling what position Rogic is in, looks like second striker behind Dembele in a flat 442.
Edit: Now things have settled with Griffifths off, it seems that this is the case.

Game over in Edinburgh, 1-2 for Celtic. Rogic not bad, but not great in his 20 odd minute cameo.

+xHaving a hard time telling what position Rogic is in, looks like second striker behind Dembele in a flat 442. Edit: Now things have settled with Griffifths off, it seems that this is the case. at least rodgers is playing him well advanced up the pitch.  defensively celtic have been sinking into a 4231 - tonight rogic was in the middle of the 3. essentially a second striker. decent shift.  early mistake by rogic almost ended up in a goal for hearts.  he didnt get much time on the ball at all. but no one really was in that.  very physical game. im just glad rogic didnt cop a muscat in the mix of it all.

Overall, a very positive first up weekend I thought. More Aussies in action then usual.

+x+xHoly god, the mobile version of the new forum format is shit. Anyway what I meant to post, QPR 1-0 up at half time. Luongo getting some nice touches, very tidy on the ball and has upped his defensive game a lot.  In terms of the game, the championship can be annoying to watch sometimes, the amount of pointless long balls is ridiculous. They don't achieve anything apart from isolating the foward no where near the goal with his back to the goal. Pace wise it's terrific though, it's a big step up from the continent. Good obs regarding the Championship. It is the directness of it which is deemed counterproductive for successful international football. No world powerhouse plays like many  Championship teams do. The high pace/tempo is also deemed counterproductive for international football.   Don't know what you lot are talking about re the QPR game.  QPR actually played the ball along the ground for most of the game and actually played some nice football. Luongo was pretty much everyones man of the match if anyone is interested.  Seems he has been at tackling school during the off season, he was everywhere.

I'll be honest I only watched the last few minutes of the first half and all of the second half - but there was a lot of hoof ball on display.

Scotch and coke,I watched the second half and of course not every play was a long ball. But there were many ,particularly from deep. They generally were high risk balls to the front third, but indicated a lack of ideas as to how to get around the defence.Luongo had to play three long balls forward because there were no options in the team structure to take the ball forward.
Ita just one game. But in that game no one stood out as having good control, positional sense to create space and passing skills.Luongo was tidy until he decided to long ball passes. But what else could he do to promote the ball forward?

There was one moment where he could have played a pass along the deck to Chery who had a bit of space around him, but he decided to go the long through pass instead and you can see Chery was frustrated. I honestly wonder what the instruction is from JFH, there is a combination, I wonder if players are confused.

if Mooy, Luongo and Rogic have big seasons would love to see a midfield triangle with them at the Confed cup... see how we go?
