I was counting Oar/Borrello in the front three although either could play midfield if required.

Only Broich's age need be of concern, Mackay and Hollman have at least two seasons left in them. Broich so far has looked fit and sharp this preseason so providing he's used wisely we'll get a good season out of him.

Pepper - I think you're being harsh on. He's got talent but got caught up in the Jets meltdown and then spent a wasted year under poppa at Wanderers. He'll do alright for us and played well v Glory in the cup.

I'm not kidding. Many people had made their minds up prior to that game that he would be "woeful" and they've stuck to their opinion (some even say it and weren't even there in a sort of "let's complain about everything while the bakries are still here" sort of way) but I watched him closely and he did well

I had no preconception of what he was like as a player and really haven't heard many comments about him prior to that game. I didn't study him exclusively however of the times he had the ball he looked quite poor. The midfield was certain to break down when he tried to do something with the ball. He couldn't handle it and it showed IMO.

I have a funny feeling a lot of players will be switching positions during a game.Particularly Oar,Broich and Holman.

To me, the only weak link is Brown. Makes me think we'll have an alright season.

And, I had to go to the third page to find this. Seems to suggest the angst around the Roar has settled down at last.

Yes they could. Brattan did s year ago (19 stayed) and Doncs did it this year.

JAPANESE fullback Hiroki Omori can push his claims for an A-League contract in Brisbane Roar’s trial against Central Coast Mariners at CTM Stadium on Saturday.
Omori, 26, caught the eye of Roar coach John Aloisi while playing for NPL Queensland club Brisbane Strikers in their 2-1 FFA Cup loss to Melbourne City at Perry Park last month.
A former lower division player in Japan with Blaublitz Akita and SC Sagamihara, Omori has been training with the Roar and is set for game time on Saturday at the Newmarket venue.
“He did well in the game against City and we’re keen to give him a run on Saturday,” Aloisi said.
The Roar can have up to five visa players in their squad. German marquee man Thomas Broich and Danish international Thomas Kristensen are presently the club’s only two foreigners.
Midfielder Kristensen, who joined the Roar in July after a two-year stint with Dutch club ADO Den Haag, won’t play on Saturday after limited time on the training track in the past fortnight.

Joining Kristensen on the sidelines will be new signing, former Socceroos star Brett Holman, who only started training with the Roar on Tuesday.
However, attacking weapon Tommy Oar and left fullback Corey Brown have overcome respective knee and foot problems to be declared fit for the Mariners’ visit.
Aloisi was uncertain whether striker Nick D’Agostino would play tomorrow following his return from a trial with Belgian club KRC Genk.
D’Agostino, 18, signed a two-year deal with the Roar before leaving for Genk last month in the hoping of earning a loan move.
However, the Gold Coast product failed to cement a dream European move.
Despite D’Agostino’s return, Aloisi still intends to sign another attacking player before the start of the Roar’s A-League campaign on October 7 when Brisbane host Melbourne Victory at Suncorp Stadium.
Meanwhile, Socceroos star Tim Cahill joined his Melbourne City teammates in Townsville yesterday ahead of the cashed-up club’s trial against Wellington Phoenix on Sunday at the Townsville Sports Reserve.
City have been in camp in North Queensland all week, with Cahill having been on national team duty, scoring in Australia’s 1-0 win over United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday morning (Qld time).

He started at LB v City in the cup, can't say he stood out one way or another on the night though? Looks to be another last minute.com signing

Yeah I watched that match and he wasn't stadout, if anything the only stadout feature was his nationality and nick name " hero". But if he is cheap(I hope strikers get a small fee) and gives us some depth at full back why not give him a shot

I do remember him having a few moments of quality. Was more noticeable on TV, dunno if you guys who mentioned he didn't stand out were at that FFA Cup game.

Swung in a free kick with his right that led to goal , was all I remember .

Is Shanon Brady injured ? Never seems to come into any team talk anymore , was once very highly rated by all .

Got to remember this is a visa slot were talking about, it's a poor use of a visa slot imo.

The article also gives away how unfit many of our players are and the same with the new ones coming in. Sounds like a very poor pre-season by all accounts. No wonder we cant beat an A-League side so far in preseason.

This year could end up a disaster.
