SATURDAY night’s Sydney derby is set to be the biggest regular season clash between two Sydney teams played in any football code at the Olympic stadium.

+xWe really need a serious 80k-ish rectangular stadium in Melbourne, or, dare I say it, a major Etihad style upgrade to the MCG. The state government and NFL would love to send a regular fixture there every year if so, no doubt. Didnt FFA promise to have so many games at Aami in order for it to be built? or a percentage of games? If so for how many years?

I know Victory had major clout in negotiating it's tenancy in that they forced them to upgrade the design to 30k rather than the proposed 20k, but I am unaware of any time commitment from them or the FFA, as opposed to the long term deal with Docklands that goes until the AFL take over.

+x+x+xLooking forward to reading and hearing radio / TV reports how thrilling game was and what a great atmosphere football generated. I know the players will play their part let's hope both sets of fans do likewise. The only issue is can the pitch recover properly from the NRLGF? 2 games that day as well. Using an analogy used by some when it happened to Roar.........."dump the club". It's all their fault. 3 games actually. But with clear whether you'd hope they could get it in good nick pretty quickly. They would have had it as perfect as possible for the NRL GF too

With NSW doing thier stuff Victoria will fall well behind. In theory if Eddie thinks that an oval stadium can be built called Victoria Park then a rectangle stadium could be built on the same site. Dont know who will pay for it though. Melbourne would need 1 or possibly 2 more teams I would imagine.

+xIs that a normal type concept coming into play? For some reason I thought the buses ran for all major events out there. If the trigger is actually 60,000 and there has been that many tickets sold then Gallop can make omelettes while laughing. Fair enough. I'll have to find a better egg face thing. This one looks about right: +x Not really. He got lucky WSW are getting a new stadium to play at. They will move in then these games wont continue as ANZ will be developed and WSW will play at New Parramatta Stadium.

It's the end of school holidays, I could see there being a big walk up crowd if the weather is half decent. Will be a big spectacle.

+xOne time where I am happy to see an MV record get broken. You'd want 50, 60k is great, 70k would be unbelievable, anything above that is the next emotion after unbelievable Game like this we are all fans, no matter what team you follow.

There are tickets available with the description Category: Category A - Restricted View It's in Section 108 which is like dead centre. Anybody know what 'restricted view' will actually mean? Is it just like a pole, something minor? Any experience here would be appreciated!

I remember being gifted a restricted view ticket for the Liverpool match at Suncorp. Just returned back from interstate so what the heck I'll still decided to go to find I had perfect view of the field. The only restricted view was that you could not see 100% of the crowd on one side of the ground lol.
In a resort somewhere

The article says biggest between 2 Sydney clubs. The game in 2003 was between a Sydney & Melbourne club.

+xCan confirm that stadium members ARE counted in the pax, my mate and his family are stadium members and have all been given tickets with PAX on them. We'll be lucky to reach 60k tbh Well, PAX is 41,500 and WSW has 18,500 members, so I dunno, 60k looks doable at this stage.

The little train that could...

I have no idea who does the Membership packs, Could be. You would think that with a whole off season they could get the member packs out in time FFS.

+xAustralian football and or football in Australia is fragile Indeed. This game should put the 16/17 season into a profit. Everything from this point onwards is a bonus
