Maybe because he didn't win. While he caught Hillary out a couple times, he spent the whole debate criticising Clinton without answering the question he was asked and interrupted just about everybody.

Clinton won the first debate, Trump won this time. Appeared more confident and decivise, related his points more with facts while Clinton just rattled off platitude after platitude.

The Donald won that one. 

This one was a tie.

One interesting moment was Trump implicitly saying if he were president, he would use his power to imprison a political opponent.

Trump definitely won that one IMO. Hilary looked way more nervous and hesitant in her answers this time around.

LOL.  I just admitted Hilary won the first debate.  It is unthinkable that the left would ever admit to being beaten by a conservative in a debate, the idea that they would have been outwitted and outsmarted would cause them to have fits and seizures.

its been interesting that the 2 polls showed a Clinton victory but republicans felt positive about the debate. Also betting markets had a slight uptick for trump.

Probably fits the theory that he energized the base despite losing the debate with the rest of the country. Still in a non-compulsory voting system that can help.

Trump certainly improved his performance after his questionable first 15 minutes, yet he continued to peddle blatant lies and never engaged in anything resembling a coherent policy. He did however say he would not follow through with the Muslim ban. But when he dismissed the fact he confessed to sexual assault as 'locker room talk' and said he would gaol his opponent if he wins, he lost all credibility. 

It's interesting how people perceive he "won" the debate because he sounded more confident. It doesn't matter what you say as long as you say it the right way.

I thought the locker room talk defence was entirely credible. Lets not forget Bill Clinton dropped in pants in the oval office and copped multiple blow jobs from his staffer, while married, and then lied about it to the American public. Yet Democrats continued to support his Presidency, yet go into outrage mode when a republican merely says a few inappropriate words.

That's the world we live in now. So divided. Different news outlets tell different people what they want to hear which widens the ideological gap and distorts free thinking....  I'm not sure how we fix it tbh.

Plenty of people would feel that it was credible.  But i don't a majority, and many women in particular would agree. Nor would they like to see Trump throwing up Bill's infidelities at Hillary as if they were her fault.
