The other option is to play him as attacking midfielder. Move Holman right and oar on the left. Borello has been disappointing, when you oar on the bench I would be finding a way to bring him in.playing broich as the 10 allows him to not rely on his speed like it's required for a wide player

Personally I'd like to see Broich used sparingly this season with Oar starting. The defensive side of midfield is the domain of specialist midfielders in my view so Pepper should come in for Mackay and when fit, Petratos fights with Holman for the AM and Borrello for Right Wing.

Yep.

What have they been doing in the off season. I can't see anything aloisi has done other reducing the intensity. The last visa player he got was a fucking right winger, defense is just hopelessly inadequate.

Theo should be dropped. No communication, no command in the box and hasn't made a save.

Can't believe we let clut go and brought in Pepper , now he comes back to bite us , good on clut but fucked recruitment/roster policy front the roar clut is 4 times the footballer Borello is and has always delivered in the limited opportunities he got , I just don't get it ? Watching city last night I really miss Brattan , I'll go as far as saying he was better than Carona (who we also have failed to replace)

I hope they find something next week to turn around tonight was concerning

Brattan was way better than corona, he could defend. Brattan is better than mooy. I am more confident saying this now that he been playing more advance role for city than he did at roar. We where never going to get brattan back.

We are playing CCM next week so if we don't get 3 ponits and a good performance, we are in the shit. We got sydney at home after that, which could get really ugly. I have a bare hope that its going to be the game that turns things around. But im really not confident at all as we have not fixed the problems from last season.

The lack of intensity was baffling.I still struggle how an obviously weak team like Newcastle can score four, when last season they were among the worst scorers.Brisbane should have bossed the game but instead looked like had been sleeping before the game.
Noone in midfiled presented for the ball from the backs in the first half .They just stood around doing nothing.
Does Kristensen know he is playing as a 6?Does anyone else know?
DeVere was doing his Bowles impersonation.Brown was doing his thing making Naboutt look good.
With a 4-0 win you would think Newcastle were great ,but they were hopeless too. It's just when you are given goals what are you supposed to do?
Alosis has to take a look at what he is doing.I just don't understand what the plan is to move the ball from the back forward. All i see is Okon football, until a back sends it long or makes a stupid high risk pass to someone who has no hope of moving the ball forward.
The midfield needs a rocket.Move around, take ball and send it forward to runners.
From the first two games Kristensen is not playing as a 6 and noone else is either. So how does the ball get forward?I don't see a plan..

ClockworkO
That first half against Figtree last week was shocking.I couldn't believe what I was watching.Aloisi even said he expected Figtree to come out fast and our response was deep defence.Talk about capitulation. There was no plan to change formation to counteract the pressing. No overloading midfield. No plan to suck in the attacking pressing and create space to attack.
This week confirmed my worst suspicion, that there is no plan.
The game against CCM will be a last chance to show something ,because things get much more difficult after that.A team low on confidence with no cohesion will get monstered by the top teams.

On point crimson. I was excited what aloisi could do given what happened last year. But started to worry with the fa cup game with Perth. Mv game picked up a bit to come back, but there was the poor start and lack of any clinical attacks. Today was a real disaster that showed no improvement from last year.

Not an awful lot to add to what's been said here, an absolutely awful performance and worryingly a defensive performance that was comical at times and we've clearly gone backwards in defence since last season.

All fingers pointing at Aloisi, Aloisi and Moore, they've created a bit of an "old boys club" down at Ballymore and they have to find a way to make it work for them or there'll be hell to pay - the fear of low crowds (back to the season of 8k or less) will come true if this is repeated.

After thinking more about the performance yesterday, there is one issue that i hadn't appreciated at the time.
The midfield yesterday was the first time that I can remember ,where there were no Roar players from last year or earlier.
The midfield drives the Roar style linking the back four and front four.Yesterday we looked like a rudderless heartless side. What a big mistake.
No Petrat,No lustica,No McKay,No Corona,No Clut,no youth, zip, zero, nothing.Three strangers playing together for the first time with noone to drive the style.
Holman was way up the pitch a lot of the time and Kristensen was not sure where he was supposed to be.
In hindsight throwing Broich back there would have helped or even moving Oar there or moving up North and bringing in Bowles.Either way it was a disaster waiting to happen ,if the opposition could apply some pressure,as they did down the left side.
The problem is that even with McKay in the team the week before,we still struggled.I am thinking Holman needs to move to Borrellos position and Petrat to go RM if he is fit.Or Broich to the top of the triangle. In any event ,having new guys like Holman and Kristensen key playmakers this early is not working.

My frustrations of last week were mainly due to our constant backwards defensive passing from our backs, this game........

- our negativity from our backs is shocking. Just look at their body position getting ready in advance to pass back as 1st option
- movement by our mids is terrible
- why do we keep getting ordinary visa players like Kristensen who are no better than locals. Out.
- Broich should finish his career without delay. Has offered nothing, absolutely nothing.
- keep passing balls off the ground making it more difficult to control. Gone complete opposite to Ange's style.
- we get rid of Lustica for a pepper lol.
- John Aloisi hasn't got it

Early days yet but a whole preseason and 2 games shows we have gone backwards. The whole team needs a Tony Popavic clean-out including the coaching staff.

Adelaide were winless in 8 games last year :)
But jokes aside there will be a few changes next week , Petratos should be back alongside McKay .
Start Bowles with North , at least Bowles has a bit of speed , brown will have to sit back more , let's face it he is not Brad Smith , able to get up and back.
Hingart could do that job on the right side if they want to overload the right instead of left and petratos will give them that option.

Does anyone know the system these days with the youth team? When Ange was here he had the youth team playing the same way as the HAL team, with youth players able to slot into the HAL and not having to change their style.
Has the npl team followed this practice?
My impression is things are all over the place.Players playing in multiple positions(which has its advantages),but loss of fluency.I haven't seen a youth player come into the team and stand out for a long time. Why is that?

Many of the youth team have spent the whole pre season training with first team and to that end 4 got selected for Aus u20s tournaments
Kye Rowles was injured in Veitnam but 3 others Jaydan Prassad , Connor OToole and Joseph Champness are currently with the 20s in Bahrain , playing in Aisian cup finals.
Champness and Prassad are attacking wingers whilst OToole is the left back that came from Japan in off season?
Midfield players Kistandopolous (sub yesterday) and Caletti are other options , Caletti brilliant ball player however he will need to bulk up for the hustle of A league football.

Saw Champness in the China game, looks a real talent but didn't realise he was one of ours. Borrello needs to watch his back.

The youth team play more like Anges way than the first team do imo. No long balls over the top, well fewer. So there's consistency there at least.

We'all see this coming season. So far it hasn't been an issue but we are not transitioning our youth players to the first team as we used to so something is going wrong

Both Petratos and Arana are fit but both weren't selected. Borrello would have been the obvious one to make way on the bench but after his match winner I recon JA will stick with the same starting XI and maybe drop Katebian for Petratos this Friday.

I am actually starting to warm to Corey Brown at lb. assist aside i thought he looked strong yesterday. Perth didn't really pose as much of an attacking threat as i would have thought though.
