You don't need to exclude derbies, you just need to look at other statistics around crowd numbers such as the median (which cancels out the effect of both extremely low and large crowds) or the variance

Melbourne Victory - 31,651
Western Sydney - 29,098
Sydney FC - 15,082
Adelaide United - 14,849
Brisbane Roar - 14,617
Perth Glory - 10,355
Newcastle - 9,784
Melbourne City - 9,065
Wellington - 8,700
Central Coast - 7,073

So Victory and Wanderers traveling ordinary and still double Sydney fc who are undefeated.

Is it to early to say Sydney Fc in Crisis yet....haha

Well if we take the average SFC attendance (from our 1 GAME AT HOME that SFC have played against CCM) and compare it to the average WSW crowd against CCM this season at home;

SFC - 15,200
WSW - 12,000

Wow.

Its not a matter of going in then out

Yeah I have no idea why WSW fans troll SFC on crowds. WSW have more members and yet SFC in most cases pull bigger crowds.

Just shows the bandwagon nature of WSW fans.

Better not include Derbys now that Wanderers have 2 of them at ANZ and the 1st installment already got 62k. Would not want to take away the only metric Sydney Fc fans have to crow about would we lol

Its funny how the exact same argument was being made by your lot last season when we had 2 derbies at Allianz.

I think discounting the derbies is fair, if making a real comparison of hard support generated, not just prawn eating glory theatre goers.

I think it's a more valuable way to look at each club's attendance. Why should Perth, Brisbane or Adelaide be compared to Melbourne City if they have 2 derby games where Victory supply two thirds of the attendance? And NSW teams have 4 other clubs within a 2 hour drive to draw bigger crowds from so they are already slightly advantaged when looking at home crowd averages.

I think if it is a home game at the teams regular home venue/city it should count.

Games like CCM vs MV in Geelong shouldnt or BR vs WP in Cairns, or CCM vs WP in Canberra etc, ....when arguing

Of course all the derbies should count.

Or alternatively, we just look at crowd average of all 10 clubs without excluding anything.

Shocking, I know.

Of course it should count and it does count to average crowds. Lol. Some of you are precious.

All I'm saying is it is a more accurate way to look at a club's true average crowd for a season.

I think much of the argument against you come from poor wording of your statement.

If you want a representation of attendances each club can realistically sustain solely based upon its own supporters, the obvious outliers like the massively attended derbies should be excluded from your calculations or poorly attended weekday fixtures.

The 'true' average of each team's crowds in the one we have. Period.

Trying to find faults with crowds by excluding fixtures is stupid.

Can anyone do some digging on this?
I'm interested in whether BR V MC will get a bigger crowd than SFC V MV?
I'm guessing BR V MV - 21K
SFC V MV - 20K
Brisbane coming off consecutive wins and the Cahill/City/Brattan factor should make for their biggest attendance of the season.
Meanwhile Sydney in imperious form in a massive rivalry clash. 20K was somewhat conservative, I'd love to see a monster attendance here, anyone know a ball park figure??

Roar PAX at 20,069 at midday.

Big turnout from corporates and stadium members expected which gives a chance of 20k .... would be good to know the PAX at about 4PM today

Well PAX on Wednesday midday was around ~7500 and that's all we've got.
Add 11k members plus hopefully sold another 1-2k by then and hopefully we're looking at 20k+.
Weather was meant to be average but has been revised to a gorgeous 26* with a light cloud cover, should be mint and see a good walk-up crowd.

Would think they would sell another 2,000 at the gate considering the hype around tonight. One of the good things about Suncorp - people who they'll always be able to get a ticket on the day.

@ Victory Heart

My guess is a PAX of around 22k come kick off.

It'll be our biggest crowd of the season lets hope it's north of 20k giving 2 games over that figure this weekend :) but ....

If Victory had a guest marquee would 16k = 20k?

If Glory had a guest marquee would 13k = 18k?

And what if Roar had a guest marquee??

That's sort of where we're heading if the FFA can get the tv deal right - the bloke Victory wanted to sign (good player) would have put 0 on the gate, so the question is how many Cahills are there - Lampart would do it, Kolo, but who else??

Anyway, looking forward to tonight whatever the crowd :)

Spoke to Pignata, he reckons its tracking at 18-19k. I told him we have seen no marketing of the game in traditional media. They need to step up in this department. Games like this deserve 25k+ easy. A lot will come down to how many stadium members show up, which has been growing every year. In the old days stadium members never showed, but there has been a swing in recent years. If the weather is good, I reckon we should crack 20k but the fact that Pignata said 18-19k tells me that it's probably closer to 16-17k which is a real shame and quite pathetic actually.

Not many Victory fans coming up for it either as NT no longer organising trips away. Back in the day there was always a contingency of 1000 or so. WIll be lucky to get 100 people i reckon.

I actually think Diamanti would have added bums on seats in Melbourne and Sydney but nowhere else other than perhaps Adelaide.

But I get what you're saying. Having a solid marquee in the 3 main capital cities would do wonders. 3-4 big players a season (every season) would grow the league exponentially. Then when you add all the other A-league grown stars and you can see how the league could really get entrenched within the mainstream, especially if it was being played on a main FTA station.

These type of marque players really do show their worth to the league.

And no diamanti is not this type of player and it was stupid for MV to think they could sign him under this rule.
