Good crowd up there. Even better that they won playing nice football. Also sounded decent on tv at least.
Hope it convinces some to come back next game.

Sydney really should be beating that tomorrow but as usual with them I'm preparing to be disappointed.

Great crowd up in Brisbane. That'll be the biggest crowd of the weekend. I hope Sydney pulls in a crowd, but I'm not holding my breath...

One thing the crowd tonight showed is that memberships mean diddly squat north of the border.15k non members attended.

Could make an argument Brisbane are the second biggest club in the league.

The type of football Brisbane played tonight should keep the punters coming back.

If we'd had the success they have since 2011 we would be rocking it with 20k every week no doubt. They also don't have a rival or derby yet, but will have a good whinge if/when they do.

No need to get defensive, I don't think any Roar fan would say we are the second biggest club going by attendance. We actually got 14,471 last season against CCM and the season before that 16,078. Despite our success in recent years, you need to take in the fact all the off field dramas we have had and we still seem to get a great attendance depsite this. Bring on a Derby I say, can only see that as a good thing for the fans in Brisbane if done right, most of us would not have a whinge.

PAX for SFC v Victory latest in mid-10k so I think we're looking 19-20k already, that's what Tony Pignata is hinting at. Should be an awesome match and the great bit is people aren't coming to watch a name player or stars, they're coming for a big clash and a good match of football. How far we've come!

Yeah, PAX is usually spot on with Sydney games
11k members + 10k PAX + walkups (looks nice and sunny today) - some members not rocking up = 19k min and hopefully ticking over 20k and beating Brisbane's crowd last night.
We've come a long way when 19-20k is seen as disappointing from some!

Slightly off the HAL but Roar opened up their W League campaign at home to Sydney this arvo winning 2-1. And did so in front of a W League standalone record crowd of 3,105

As I said, the Brisbane v City crowd was always going to be the biggest of the round. Now sure how big a club can say that they are, or they can be, when they can't even get 20k for their biggest rivalry outside the Sydney derby.

I was hoping the Big Blue would also crack 20k (good for the game etc) but I guess its suffering from the rise of the respective derby matches in Sydney and Melbourne. People get annoyed when "averages" are quoted that exclude the derby matches but it's a reasonable way of assessing how non-derby games are travelling.
SFC, like Roar, suffer from "big stadium syndrome" and while neither of them are leaving their respective cathedrals anytime soon I would hope they'd both consider taking a handful of games to smaller venues each season (in Roars case that option is limited to one venue in the city) as the smaller stadium will provide great atmosphere with a small crowd (which research proves increases attendance).
As for the Big Blue, all is not lost, there's plenty of history there it just needs reinvigorating - I can only assume a Cahill like guest marquee signing for each side would push the crowd over say 30k next season?

+xSlightly off the HAL but Roar opened up their W League campaign at home to Sydney this arvo winning 2-1. And did so in front of a W League standalone record crowd of 3,105 Honestly this is amazing but seriously what the hell is happening at brisbane? They have less members than the mariners, their start to the season was far from ideal (when you consider they hadn't beaten city yet) and there is a ton of anger at owners and club. How is this the season they pull these massive numbers? Is there someone from brisbane that can explain if its a good marketing campaign or is there something being done over there, or is it just a case of it was going to happen eventually, because I seriously don't understand how brisbane is suddenly getting these pure decent crowds...

I can safely say for the fans there all is definitely not lost. The atmosphere was absolutely electrifying. The game still means a hell of a lot to us.
