How can a pay tv channel have double the viewers a fta station have. I find it impossible for such a difference ,  we must be the only code of sport in Australia where the fta numbers are always worse than pay tv.
Great numbers for foxtel especially with the cricket on at the same time , they must be very happy with these numbers.

I will be interested to see if W-League ratings on ABC get close to SBS ratings.Maybe then the android stiffs at SBS will realise they are completely out of touch with Football fans.The whole station seems to be based on projecting an image of boring stiff formality,with personality bypass.
I am wondering if this was a Foxtel masterplan.Draw in FTA viewers to SBS,let SBS drive them to drill holes in their skulls and force them to take up Fox subscriptions.
I love the Les rant.SBS has reduced its HAL coverage.It used to have more football pundits,it used to have more Football shows ,and it used to have HD coverage,it used to have twice the ratings for HAL,it used to have three times the ratings for epl.But it's everyone else's fault.
Even the eurosnobs can't handle the stiffs.

Foxtel powering along witth plus 100k ratings.I don't think they can afford to let Optus grab HAL.They haven't got anything to get those ratings.Also with another two teams ,they can build on those ratings.

SBS2 is a joke. 104k should get 200-300k on a proper FTA network. They've completely butchered the league. Good riddance.

Meanwhile test cricket ratings are badly down. Not that you would hear about it though...

The common theme with SBS is that fans start out watching,then after a month or so,can't stand it anymore and turn off .Even the epl.It seems the HD and foreign commentary is not enough.
Do the Foxtel ratings show how well their pre game and post game shows are performing.

The ratings also show that Fox do a good job. Its a big risk swapping from Fox to another broadcaster when Fox have done so well. Who's to say another broadcaster don't do worse than SBS

Channel 7 did with the NSL. Even if they don't do worse than SBS if they do worse than Fox it is going to hurt. Not a great deal of quality football commentators hard to imagine them recruiting a team as good as Fox

The secret to a FTA deal is making it worth it to the channel ... i.e. pay ???? will mean the FTA will give its its best attempt to make work... pay too little and it means it taken away from effecting the major codes and kept away from telco's..

Having said that a client has told me that Football is no longer as soccer by the FTA's ... its more seen as a live sport ... live sport is the FTA only real major product against the streaming networks ...

If we can get a commercial FTA to pay enough, they will try and make it work... I do worry about 7 they are so effected by AFL....  you feel we would be very much second class citizens ...... 

Agree that live sport is the only FTA solution to streaming services. It also means FTAs are willing to spend less money on TV shows and are budgeting more for things like sport

Has Fox had any significant loss of subscribers since the loss of EPL.  It seems that the A league has been the beneficiary from this.

Anyone know where we can see Fox Ratings from Season 1 till now?
