Fantastic numbers ruined by Kiwis yet again

He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

And they had double that first round. No goals first few rounds half the fans don't come back.

This weekend:

City/Jets - 8,000 (Thursday night but fine weather + Cahill should get this to a respectable 8k)
Reds/Roar - 10,000 (shame about their form because this should be a sellout otherwise)
CCM/Nix - 6,000 (Who knows with Canberra)
MV/WSW - 23,000 (iffy weather predicted but there's a roof so it shouldn't affect the crowd)
Sydney/Glory - 16,000 (Sunny Sunday predicted in Sydney. Really should be nudging 18-20k with their current form but who knows)

63,000 would be a decent result.

Not sure if we will get 10k after last game,we are already going down in attendance, just shows how fickle some of our fans are.

@ paddythelipslol 😂 I'm not sure what there is to explain? Roar has a pretty loyal core group of fans plus we've always valued the W League team - the record set yesterday beat the previous record set by Roar at Broadbeach last year (just over 3k from memory).Membership is a different question, we'll end up with 6k members this season which is about right but really people don't see them as anything other than a cheaper way of getting tickets - you can always get a seat at Suncorp right lol?Fans remain pissed off with the ownership issues but I believe that is stopping us growing crowds rather than turning existing fans away At a club level they have improved marketing, there's a regular weekly newsletter going out to 40,000 fans, on-line is shears good with Roar, they've been advertising on billboards and radio plus local media has covered more on Roar with 7, 9, 10 and ABC featuring Roar more and even the Courier Mail has improved its quality and quantity of Roar content. There's even talk of the club investing in tv advertising. I guess we wait and see where we end up - an average crowd of 15k+ would be success, and 3k+ (including double headers) for the W league team would be ideal. Any other local thoughts?

lol that was a pretty big explanation for nothing to explain ;) For me it is clear this season is different to the most others. Membership is extremely low when comparing to other years yet attendance is extremely high. And I think after a 4-0 loss to the jets and an incredibly lacklustre scrappy 1-0 win over mariners, that 20k on a friday in any other season wouldn't of happened. And it can't be that thousands of fans suddenly realised they don't have to buy a membership for the spot in the half-empty bay. For me it must be down to advertising, which I obviously can't see for myself from sydney.
Its not that I didn't think brisbane had no fans, but for 2 years you had the most dominant team on the australian sporting scene, yet 20k on a friday even for cahill still would of been a massive achievement then

Interesting that the last round saw the 17,000,000th fan through the turnstyles for a game of A League football. To me that is a huge vindication of the work by Frank Lowy et al in getting the A League up and running.

I am thinking we may get close to the magic 2 Million fans (average of 14,815 per game) for the regular season this year.

Good goal to aim for, and we're well on track with an average of 15,468 so far.

Additionally, this is well ahead of the record regular season average of 14,610 set in 2007-08 (and that only had a total of 1,227,244, being a shorter season).

Good goal to aim for, and we're well on track with an average of 15,468 so far.

Additionally, this is higher than the record season average of 15,348 set in 2007-08.

If you take out the Nix you get 16,127 as well. Still early days, lets see where we're at after round10 but travelling nicely, particularly Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.
City, Mariners & Wanderers a bit disappointing so far, Newie SFC & MV about right.

Its not a matter of going in then out

And they claim they've caught up to Sydney . Right.

Cheers.

That 16k was the Villa match so besides that, highest Jets/City for quite a while and it was on a Thursday. I'd call that a win.

Their next match is a family friendly Sunday 5pm against Welly, that should be a big crowd.

Not really when you consider the players they have signed.

Sustainable growth is nothing to be sneezed at, how much have Sydney, Victory, Brisbane or Adelaide grown in the last three seasons?
