I saw a good comment somewhere: Clinton built a coalition to win the popular vote, Trump built a coalition to win the electoral college.
All this talk of Latino turnout didn't fucking matter because they were in states that were already blue (Cali, NM) or already red (Texas, Arizona). Similarly, all this talk of the black vote didn't matter because it's concentrated in southern states where Republicans run up yuuuuge tallies with whites (Georgia, Missippi etc) or again in already deeply blue states like Illinois and Maryland.
So Trump targeted a demographic that was ignored by the democrats - disaffected whites in the Mid-West. Everyone laughed at his rallies in blue states like Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania etc when in reality it was these places that were the prime targets of his message. Look at Ohio - it was THE bellweather state and he managed a swing of over 10 points in a single cycle!

Though Trump didnt actually say that. See how the left simply make shit up to scrap together votes, then in the same breath claim the moral and intellectual high ground. Bizarre

Good grief, this is my first foray into extra time. I respect your opinions on football, but can't believe how many of you seem to be supporting Trump. The guy is a clueless numbskull. Yes, Hillary wasn't a perfect candidate but she's at least smart, stable and well-informed. Trump is an idiot, plain and simple. Not fit to be president.

+xDo you believe us yet? That the media is corrupt. That they are bias. That they are part of a machine trying to engineer society? Do you really think that polling organisations (who have one fucking job) can be so incompetent? No, they were lying to you. Donald Trump's victory PROOVES he was right. That the people are sick of unfettered illegal immigration, corporate greed destroying the working class, media elites policing thought and language, multinational unionism, sending Americans to die in stupid wars. We were told constantly by "celebrities," people who by definition have no education and "journalists," whom by definition have a poor education how evil Trump is, that he is literally Hitler, how much he is hated by every one of the left's favourite little "minority," how there is going to be a landslide for Hillary etc etc. Donald Trump won by going to the people. Night after night and actually going to them. He abandoned identity politics and united the nation. All this pathetic crying we are seeing on our media is from big city elites who have no idea. The United States is not a democracy. It is a constitutional representative republic. The individual (not the minority) is protected by the constitution from the mob rule of democracy. And today, the republic has risen once again to protect itself from the tyranny of the elites. Basically summed it up. I don't think that Trump will make ordinary folk in the States fare any better, though. I think it was a shame that Ms. Clinton was the Democrats candidate. And the way she handled things (and the media handled things) pissed off a lot of people who are kingmakers. You don't go calling your constituents a "basket of deplorables" (even if I, personally, agree on that point). The Democrats fucked up massively. The bad thing is that this has led to a situation where a man wholly unfit for the most influential job in the world will take the reins. The only good thing is if somehow he gets reined in and things don't go too mental while he's in charge. Then in future, mainstream politics learns to address some of the things to which you refer in your post.

If Clinton was papering over the cracks, Trump is taking to the cracks with a sledgehammer.

He'll get reined it because he, like every president, will be subject to the separation of powers. Meaning the president has less power than what everyone thinks. The mainstream media is exaggerating the usual doomsday predictions now that one of their own hasn't won. They always do this. I tend to feel comforted when they are in meltdown.

If Clinton was papering over the cracks, Trump is taking to the cracks with a sledgehammer. This is your best insight of the campaign. A job like this requires a sledgehammer. Not everyone is going to like him, but in the fullness of time he will go down as one of the greatest presidents of all time. He may well be the one who truly shakes up the DNC and makes them realise that their identity politics aren't working and that they need to reach out to the common man (specifically working class blue collar non-college educated whites, who ultimately tipped this election in Trump's favour), but he won't be regarded as one of the greatest. He is set to set the progress of Democrats and liberals back about 30-50 years, intensify racial tensions and destroy and hope of action regarding climate change.

+x+xCruz vs Rubio is a good tip I reckon. Cruz is insane, but Rubio is a far scarier prospect - he could very well win the general election. So much bullshit, so little time Well at least he was right about Cruz being insane. +xGood grief, this is my first foray into extra time. Yes, Hillary wasn't a perfect candidate but she's at least smart, stable and well-informed. Trump is an idiot, plain and simple. Not fit to be president. For someone so well-informed she misread the public pretty terribly. Should've spent less time wheeling out celebs and playing the PC/Woman card and focus more on America's working class.
