+xOK, I completely understand the hype around The Dark Knight, and Heath Ledgers performance. 8 years after it came out sure, but wow. I've never really been a superhero movie fan, and only kinda gotten into them, but I'm kicking myself I didn't get into the BB trilogy earlier. Better late than never, eh. Yup and it's something you appreciate more on further viewings. I remember when TDK came out I saw it 6 times in the first week. -PB

You'll love TDKR, but the amount it focuses on the League of Shadows etc will take you by surprise after watching TDK recently IMO. Like I've said previously, TDK is such a fantastic movie but is more of a standalone and when it comes to the trilogy you're watching, adds very little. The trilogy is just so great, I won't be surprised if you rewatch it within the month. Now I'm in the mood to rewatch it

Its like they decided to make one more movie and Nolan thought it would be good to tie it together with the first one. You can virtually skip the TDK and watch the other 2 back to back and miss no real information. That is the only problem I have with the 'trilogy'. Nolans a smart guy but you think he would have been able to weave all 3 together somehow.

He's an awesome director, Nolan.
I actually just watched Interstellar the other day for the first time. That was awesome too. I like that he takes on the more wacky projects.
My all time fav movie of his is Inception. No matter how many times you watch it you always pick up on some other little hidden details.

I'd have to watch them again but pretty much the only thing tying TDK to the other two is the scene at the end of Begins introducing the Joker. IMO the main thing that ties TDK to the trilogy, and adds to it in any way, is Rachel Dawes. Her importance to Bruce, and the effect her death had on him, is the main thing (only thing? The Dent Act being the other thing I guess) we got from TDK. If you skipped TDK altogether like Glen mentioned, there'd just be questions over why Batman was the bad guy in TDKR, why he exiled himself and who the hell Harvey Dent is and what The Dent Act is  which I guess could all have been easily written out. But yep the main thing stopping BB from being a standalone is that card introduction of the Joker right at the end.

He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

Watched Bad Santa 2 last night.
Very meh. Wouldn't watch again. Had a few funny moments, mixed in with attempted humour that was just painful & crossed the line way too often.

I've seen a few movie's lately and enjoyed most of them
Dr Strange - Probably my second favourite of the superhero movies after Deadpool. The mid warping effects almost went too far in making me disorientated..
Arrival - Very good, though I am not sure how the concept would actually work.
Fantastic Beasts - Enjoyed it much more than the Harry Potter films probably because I went in without preconceived notions about the characters or plot from the books and its not trying to shove so much in. Its also nice to see beyond the very narrow view of the world we saw through Harry Potter and Voldemort's eyes.
Underworld 5 - Shit. Nothing made much sense. Use your heavy artillery to knock the windows out from outside before you come in, maybe destroy the roof while your at it.

^ I'm keen to see all of them, I know the underworld series doesnt have high acclaim, but I loved it when I was a teenager.
I'm a Harry Potter/superhero nerd, and a film about aliens seems good(y).
The new mummy trailer looks pretty meh, and yet another michael bay transformers film-.-
I've got my rogue one tickets for next week, very hyped.

Saw the Claude Chabrol movie La Cérémonie. Lower class maid Sophie starts working for the wealthy Lelievre family. Tensions rise. Isabelle Huppert and Sandrine Bonnaire are both very good, as are the rest of the cast. I watched it on Artificial Eye Bluray.

Arrival is amazing. A couple of weak spots but the best sci-fi movie I've seen in ages.

Good thing about it is that it takes place after Civil War.
No more of that spider man origin story crap. Uncle Ben has at long last escaped from the loop where he kept getting shot the past 15 years.
