It says no plans for a stadium though, what would be the point of a south east team playing out of AAMI park? 3 teams out of the same venue full time is a bit much.
That's where we differ , our headquarters are actually where we play.

Actually it works I think if an a league stadium is built there, the city of Casey says they won't be building it, so who will? This stadium is anywhere between 5-10 years away but in all likelihood will never be built. An existing club is already at Dandenong Showgrounds and the word is they haven't even been consulted and want nothing to do with this memeti bloke who only seems to care about Dandenong thunder for the most part.
What you will get is a south east team more then likely permanently playing out of AAMI park.
My clear bias aside, and let's just ignore history and all that stuff, it's the fact that the whole club will be run out of the same complex, w league/a league double headers, genuine home base for training and matches, we have lots of training fields and of course the social club and the facilities around it (futsal court) etc. we will have all this in one spot.
AAMI park does not represent the south east, they would basically be heart but with less traction.

+xThis bid along with south western Sydney make the most sense... I can see a small stadium being built for the C-D bid... Question for a local... Both the C-D bid and the SM bid are claiming south east Melbourne... Can someone explain are they in the same area or are they different. Good question middy. That south east corridor is a smfc rich area. Its always serviced many clubs though... for example, bentleigh greens, are technically south east corridor too..in the west of the corridor. Geographically though casey is removed from the melbourne sprawl so to speak... its the far east side of the south east corridor. Its Off the beaten path to another town....like a geelong... if you draw a line from casey all the way west to the bay its a 40 odd min drive. That gives u an indication of how far it is. Its a complete other world out there lol. The corridor is a huge area.

You can have a multi million dollar training facility and thats great, but if your not gonna be based there where it counts (matchday) then whats the point?

If he has never visited Dandenong showgrounds, then he has never been to Dandenong, so how is he connected to thunder? If there are so called 6 clubs wanting to join forces, who are you to doubt it, are you involved with them? personal opinion. personal opinion.

My understanding is that a club exists on the site of the showgrounds and has been there for 15 years with a huge junior base, they want nothing to do with memeti and arent part of the alleged joined 6, i didnt get the full story, i was overhearing some blokes from dandenong city talking about it lol. what i do know is a stadium wont get built out there for a long time..all expansion spots will be sorted before any such thing gets off the ground, now if the ffa want to grant a license out that way and have them play at aami thats a different story, but as i said that would be pointless.

If they aren't serious about playing out of Dandenong, then scratch the whole thing.
By this logic, if they play out of AAMI, then you might as well plonk the Geelong franchise there too.

A Club in the South East Corridor playing out of Dandenong and training out of Casey Fields is a brilliant idea.
But this is when the FFA, FFV, State Government, Federal Government, the two Councils involved and the wider football community need to get together to line up all the ducks in a row! Whats required is a lot of ground work, some significant lead in time and a commitment from the FFA that in 5 years there will be a team out of Dandenong playing and training in the area. This allows for Government investment into the necessary infrastructure.

I also have to add if we have so many groups prepared to invest in an expanded A-league, then it makes sense to start a second division else we will lose much of this investment in our game.

Totally agree, match day stadium has to be in Dandy or else. I took a tour recently via Google street view of the Greaves st reserve. There is indeed a soccer club there as well as rugby and Aussie rules.
As per my last post it's the Dandenong Redlegs (Aussie rules) side that their putting the pressure on to kick them out of their. Weather it means they then take these fields and offer it as a carrot to the other sides or not could be all part of the complex politics.
What I will say it to though is the Dandenong City Council wouldn't be blind to this. They would know the huge economic benefits they'd benefit from if they hosted top tier football is this country. I know they're constantly comparing themselves with Parramatta but basically they want to copy what the Wanderers did because they can see the riches that the Wanderers produced for the local region around Parramatta Stadium.

Three Melbourne councils representing more than a million people in football’s Victorian heartland are moving forward with a bid for an A-League side. Greater Dandenong City, Casey City and Cardinia Shire councils in Melbourne’s south-east signed an agreement on Wednesday to underpin the effort. They have enlisted Socceroo stalwart Vince Grella to assist their campaign as the bid ambassador. The hard-nosed midfielder spent a decade with Italian clubs Empoli, Parma and Torino before switching to English Premier League club Blackburn Rovers. Grella is also a proud Dandenong boy and delighted to lend support to the bid. “I was born around the corner, grew up kicking a ball in the park and have an unbelievable passion for Australian football,” he told AAP. “I would have loved to have ended my career where I started. To think there could possibly be a club here, it excites me.” Grella believes the side could become a Melbourne equivalent to the Western Sydney Wanderers, attracting similarly fervent support. “I think there’s a lot of similarities between the two areas,” he said. “It’s a working class area where people love sport and really get behind sport.” The bid will also include a W-League and National Youth League side. There is plenty of competition to join the league, with a wave of expansion interest across the country. In Victoria, that includes former NSL powerhouse South Melbourne and a Geelong bid. But at this stage, there’s no opening. After initially raising expansion prospects, in February FFA kiboshed hopes of growing the league in the short-term by prioritising reform of the league’s operating model. Grella – who now works as a player agent – says expansion is needed. “Part of my new job is understanding how football is run overseas and in certain countries. With our setup it will be difficult to grow the game without adding teams,” he said. “In the first years you have to consolidate. We’ve done that and now we need to expand.” The south-eastern Melbourne bid hopes they can win support owing to the region’s rich football heritage. Current Socceroos Bailey Wright and Jackson Irvine are among at least a dozen estimated past and present national team players from the south-eastern corridor of Melbourne. The Councils believe they host 71 football clubs and more than 11,500 registered players. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/may/04/victorian-version-of-wanderers-gets-backing-for-a-league-expansion-bid?CMP=share_btn_tw

From what I have read arguably the strongest of all the bidders .... then there is South Melbourne another very strong bidder ... difficult call on who is the best out of the two ... as I said from afar the Casey bid seems just so strong...

What could they be called? Casey-Dandenong FC doesn't roll of the tongue
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

Based on...? AS I said from what I read, they have two major councils behind them and a number of big local clubs, a training ground and facility is proposed by one of the councils... its an area where Football is popular ... people are saying in many ways somewhat similar to Western Sydney. To me thats sounds very good but I am not from Melbourne and its difficult to determine if the South Melbourne bid is better ... both appear very strong ..

+xWhat could they be called? Casey-Dandenong FC doesn't roll of the tongue The names Dandenong or Monash is probably a good representative name for the whole region, but it'll be hard to get all the local councils on board with either of those names. I can imagine they'll put Melbourne in there somewhere... just hope its not "South East Melbourne" or something as lame as that. I've always liked the idea of referencing the Yarra River in a name, but the Yarra isn't situated down there, so its probably not an option.

The name is definitely a challenge. Can't call it Dandenong, Casey or Monash as it would only represent one council. South East Melbourne sounds like shit. Maybe something like 'Eastern United FC'. Even that doesn't sound too good but it's better than the others.
