Can't even claim we're just being opportunistic and dogging a team in their off year. They're rubbish year after year and being rewarded for it.

14081 at kardinia park

The crowd looked ok on tv for what it was worth.
Say if the FFA did expand there for their own purposes, i'm wondering what a crowd of half that would look like on TV and atmosphere...
You could bring the pitch towards one end which i'd suggest would be the "Players Stand End" which is right hand side of TV screen but it wouldn't be that flash still.

Interesting how the average has been bloody ordinary, even during the Xmas holiday period and yet the scorn is on the Nix.

Questions need to be asked of most clubs figures if you ask me!

In the last round only Sydney and the Mariners can really hold their heads up although have done better in similar games in the past, with MV maybe a pass.

Based on the history of the A-League, and the Nsl in some cases, some of the projected attendance figures for some of the expansion teams are bordering on delusional.

Does any A-League team show long term consistent attendance growth?

Yet some of these new clubs will miracously double, triple or quadruple their attendance, based on what?

And even a cursory glance around the globe will tell you that not all derbies inflame the passions in the way others do!

There have been 7 crowds below 6k this season. 4 of them are Wellington home games (and they have only had 6 at that)

The scorn is on Wellington because they are the problem

They average 6619 against a league average of 13119. It doesn't get any more obvious than that.

Be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it!

I'll take a well thought out strategic plan on expansion over knee jerk reactions any day!

And if the best way to promote your club is to heap scorn and bile on another club, well that reflects more on the strength of your clubs bid doesn't it?

Well, no, the best way to promote my club is to remind you we are reigning HAL champions, first holders of the FFA cup, and first club to make the final of the Asian Champions League :)

Wellington isn't a well thought out strategic plan simply because they have been around for 10 years. It's procrastination. We have been sold this rubbish of a pot of gold in New Zealand since the FK days. It doesn't exist. When you make a caim about the future you're actualy required to deliver some tangible result in a couple of decades. It hasn't happened. At some point the bum son needs to be kicked out of home for his own good.

What do I wish for? NZ can concentrate on the football championship there, we can concentrate on the HAL here. Best of luck to them.

I wasn't talking about the Nix specifically.

There will always be a 'Nix' i.e. A club at the bottom of the averages and the league can always be improved if you replace the bottom club with a better club....as long as that suits your agenda all's good!

There are bigger problems in the league right now than the Nix.

Yes you have but barely and only with the FFA, the new owners and Melbourne Victory helping out..,so really the growth has been steady but underwhelming.

My point is all clubs have their challenges and the Nix have been given set metrics to acheive or they're out, so allow them their chance.

Hence why promotion relegation works

Western Sydney was a knee-jerk reaction. Not exactly best practice planning, but it worked because it tapped a latent base for football.

Funny, I seem to recall something about a latent football base around Albert Park way that, unlike the Western Sydney Wanderers at the time, actually exist now and could come into the A-League at short notice...

Wellington have the lowest attendance. Lowest tv ratings. They dont pay their way in tv money. Don't quater fill their stadium. Produce little australian talent. No nz team has won any of the billion trophies on offer despite being in a 10 team league with no relegation, a salary cap and extra foreign spots.

Fwiw i didnt want townsville or gold coast out as they are australian clubs. New zealand needs to create their own league and incorporate wellibgton into a strong domestic competition. Its pretty fucking simple.

Way to miss the point!

Then please tell us what the case is for Wellington Phoenix justifying the licence they hold to play in a closed Australian league.

Well for starters they were invited in for Season three over several Australian bids and secondly they have been given metrics to achieve in order to stay in the league. Thirdly the FFA, NZFC, AFC and FIFA have all green lighted the Nix.

And what metric have they improved on this season? (assume 3 of the most important ones are TV Ratings, Attendance and Membership)

- Crowds this season 6,619 vs 8,048 of last season.
- Members last season 5,062 vs 4,628 right now

And I don't have TV figures but in NZ and here would hardly be smashing it TV wise.

They have to go, and at this stage wouldn't be meeting their KPI's for the 4 year license threshold

Who cares? You don't know themetrics required, let the contract run its course Gallop has already shown he's prepared to make the call....so stop the orchestrated hysteria and allow due process to take its course!

Then tell me the point, instead of being a self righteous prick about it. Which part am I wrong about? They don't even have a coach. Where in my above points did I provide an argument that was invalid.

How you ever became mod is God's guess.
