+xThat is shocking... how they don't crack 10k as an absolute minimum is beyond me! What a joke lol says the City fan.

+x+xBBL is a mickeymouse competition that people enjoy but it's not taken seriously. I play cricket and watch cricket yet don't know a single proper fan of a BBL team. We shouldnt worry about the BBL, nor compare it to the A-League. No-one seems to support the particular teams yet it fills stadiums and rates well on tv because people just like to watch cricket. Seems there's a lot that we (and the other sports) in Australia could learn from when it comes to activating fans. I wouldn't say that, Glory getting just over 9k when BBL and Tennis is playing same time/day say the A-League can hold its own. Unless you want a game without goal keepers?

To say people dont support the teams is a bit of a stretch, it would have been true the first few years when it started but not now.

+xCan we have a discussion about A League attendances, there's a game on this evening, funnily enough, between Perth and the Nix. Which drew 9 000.

We shouldnt worry about the BBL, nor compare it to the A-League. I'm a cricket member of the TCA. I find the cricket administrators and bean counters in this state, and on the national stage, take BBL very seriously. ATM the BBL is the major impediment to getting another Test tour against a minor nation in Oz during January. In terms of football I see the BBL as a big rival for spectators. Most cricket fans seem to prefer it to Test cricket and certainly Shield cricket. BBL players have demi-god status in the local tabloid, similar to AFL players.

+xAre kids free at AAMI park again tomorrow night? Will be a nice night and no jvs, maybe 12k? Might make an appearance to see how valkanis goes first up. Surprised to see a fan think of attending a game depending on who the coach is?

Teams generally fire up for the first game a new coach comes in, not that valkanis will shift away from jvs ball, but it will be interesting to see if the players show more hunger tonight.

Michael Valkanis played for South Melbourne. That's why he's going :)

Sounds about right, Wanderers fans were awesome, I don't think they had the kids free gimmick tonight so I'd rate it as good as the Perth crowd last week despite a couple thousand less.

Was 10,731, no idea where that incorrect figure came from above. Great turn out.

"MELBOURNE City started life after John van’t Schip with a crucial win over Western Sydney. City’s first win in six games lifted them to third, though not entirely convincing with 10-man Wanderers having late chances to snatch it in front of 10,731 at AAMI Park."

+xMy bad. Saw it from randoms on Twitter. Over 10k is decent So 9,700 is poor but 10,000 is decent, based on an ambiguous benchmark set for a league largely consisting of state league players set over a decade ago

Predicting a low one in Brisbane today. The made for TV in the southern states early Saturday games have proven not to work in Brisbane so I would think this will again prove to be lowest crowd of the season despite having 4.5k show up for the W League game last time. That was however on a Sunday where the earlier afternoon games aren't too bad. Prediction 11.6k.

@ gurudave
I tend to agree with you. 4PM kick offs are our graveyard games.
However yesterday ticket sales were trending towards 16k apparently so I don't think it will be the lowest crowd this season.
