+x+xSo, Cameron Burgess was recalled by Fulham, from Oldham who are bottom of League One at the moment, and, not long after was loaned to Bury, who are one point off the relegation zone. Interesting stuff there. Interesting. Was it a recall, or simply the end of a half season loan deal? Either way, it's all good as long as he's getting minutes and has the faith of his signed club, which seems to be the case. I can't tell the exact reasoning but yes it was a 6 month loan and Oldham has been under a transfer embargo. Now a Football League transfer embargo doesn't stop you signing players all together but their are very heavy restrictions. Generally it seems like you have to prove you need a player or your squad is too small or you can sell a player and bring in a really cheap one to show you are actively lowering wages. Now I don't know if they would have been prevented from extending Burgess' loan as loans are generally cheap but Oldham while having a decent defence are bottom because they have only scored 12 goals (next worst is 23). By not resigning Burgess they will be looking at getting a striker. Bury on the other hand have the worst defence in the league so Burgess should hopefully come straight in

+x+x+x+x+x+x+x+xMooy starting and still 0:0. Wright not in squad. Tweets suggesting he's moving. This could be interesting.Federici on bench and Smith not even in the squad. Positive news with O'Neill on the Burnley bench. Weird Luongo not in the squad. I guess QPR played very recently so he's likely being rested or departing? Please not to the CSL. Please not to the CSL. Reports are linking him with Bristol City and CSL. I feel sick. Why the hell are our players all going to China? Sure some good coaches are now there and some decent players but the culture and sharpness isn't there. The big names there have their head in the clouds and know they could run back to Europe whenever they like. An Australian in China definitely appears to be one who couldn't really hack it in Europe and returning could be very tough. In another thread MV Jono listed all the wages paid to Aussie players. I think most of the highest paid were playing in China. Sainsbury was top of the list. Apart from Cahill, no other HAL player made the big earners for something like 25 players! After seeing the salaries on offer one cannot blame players for going to China. The money on offer in China is very, very lucrative. Sainsbury is on $5M odd in China ... he would of been on less than $300K at PEC. How many of you would turn down a job that offers to pay you over 10 times your current pay? It depends on the job and what your goals are. To say that money is the be all and end all is dumb. What goals do you mean? He should play in a smaller European league at 10% of his current wage to try push through to a "big" league for what? China puts him in a stronger league than Australia, in a much closer region for flying home to australia for WCQ and playing against some of the best in the world. Just because fans have Europe as the holy grail doesnt mean do. 99% of the population would take a ten times pay increase to move to China. I think man for man the A-league is stronger. The quality of imports in China does not negate just how bad the average Chinese player is I've been off for awhile but basically this. If you go into sports expecting to be paid millions you're clearly in the wrong profession.

+xYeah Seems like a backward step , 205 games at PNE and he captained that side on occasion seems strange they would let him go also strange he would choose to go to a team in a relegation fight in the same league .. At 24 he needed this move to really be the "next step" . Like a lower EPL club (that apparently he was linked to) or else go for the China money These are the kind of guys who could go to Europe and change their game for the better. I know the money is less, but they have proven themselves physically fit enough to play the game and seem to have been pigeonholed as a lower league footballer in England. Unless Bristol get promoted (not likely) he will never touch the EPL.

not really oz football, but Huddersfield signed young loanee from Chelsea Izzy Brown like a younger version of Willian. Just what they some need more goals, they would have to be a massive chance now for promotion.

Expecting players to go to Europe and struggle for 10% of the wage they could get in China. The Chinese teams were playing on par with the A-league teams before they even had their injection of rediculous money. They are now on another level. We had too many young players wasteing away with the Euro dream barely playing and not developing at all. Id much rather them playing in China, setting themselves up and playing against some of the best players in the world. To think that proffesional sports players are not motivated by money is beyond laughable.

True but I can almost guarantee the Socceroos will be damaged the more players who go to China. No way can we compete at a World Cup with a squad from China. The marquees are a decent match up but the local players are terrible. For anyone but a CB it is a terrible move in every aspect other than your bank balance. Even for a CB to play against 3 decent players and 8 who are at best A league standard isn't that great. Sainsbury is also likley to share the CB position for next season with the South Korean who played in the Bundesliga anything less that 90 mins week in week out in China should be completely unacceptable. Spira in the 2nd division should also not be tolerated in any way shape or form.

Massive day of FA Cup action.
Wright debuts with number 42 vs Fleetwood. PNE face Arsenal in a massive comparison.
Luongo starting vs Blackburn. Smith and Federici starting against Millwall.
Irvine with a slight groin strain unfortunately misses the Watford clash. A massive shame. Still no Elder.
Mooy on the bench vs Port Vale. Williams bench.
Annoyingly Joey Barton walks into the Burnley 11 after rejoining them. O'Neill not in squad ffs.

Bournemouth knocked out of the FA Cup. Means even less chances for game time for Smith and Federici.

Frustrating Bournemouth lose 3:0 to Millwall. Not sure how Smith played but not likely to look good for him and Federici.
Barnsley Burnley and Bristol need a replay.
Burtonand QPR are out while Huddersfield advanced with ease and Mooy got 20. Luongo played 80.

Chelsea looking to recall Ake. Hopefully that'd help Smith get game time. Exciting draw on Monday evening. Hopefully Huddersfield get someone from League One or a home match against an EPL side. Would Mooy be eligible against City?

A shame about DDS i think one day he has the potential to reach Mooy's level given how young he is, maybe coming back home at a club which would play him in his prefered position as a No.10 might do him the world of good.

Yup. Mooy was a couple of years older than DDS when he came back to WSW, so DDS definitely has a long time to make it even if he returns home first.

Yup. Mooy was a couple of years older than DDS when he came back to WSW, so DDS definitely has a long time to make it even if he returns home first. Whenever I saw DDS play for Roda, he was super lively, has a great passing range and always looked to create. He was OK in front of goal, not bad for a young attacking mid. However even though he tried to build up muscle and strength for this season after that bring that being the main problem last season. He was still too easily fought off the ball or 50/50's that required strength. He is still young and this can changed as he keeps growing. Hope he doesn't go to Serie A, bad decision considering he couldn't keep a starting role in a weaker league. Should stay in Europe and go to Belgium, Switzerland etc

Ake has returned to Chelsea. Positive news for Smith. Daniels plays a bit of midfield too. It's unlikely they won't bring in someone else for extra cover as they are looking a bit thin now.

+xTraore with a full game against Sweden One of only three outfield players who got the full 90 in Abu Dhabi, hopefully that puts him in good stead for the tournament.
He wouldn't have been happy with Sweeden's goal, but he did his part.

Chelsea v Brentford Rochdale v Huddersfield Town Burnley or Sunderland v Fleetwood Town or Bristol City
Would love to see Elder return to fitness and get a shot against Chelsea. He was a guaranteed starter before injury.
Good draw for Huddersfield and hopefully Burnley and Bristol go through.
