+x+xThis weekend: BR v SFC - 15K WP v WSW - 6K MV v MC - 33K PG v NJ - 11K CCM v AU (Canberra) - 6K Total - 71K Its hard getting even close to the numbers for the round. Who'dathunk that PG v NJ would almost hit 13K. Must admit I'm really starting to enjoy watching PG. It was a good game to watch. 13 000 plus is a decent turn out too.

The attendance at W-League should be separate with attendance based on time-stamp if scanners were used. No support in Canberra for a non-local team. BS Figures

+x+x+xDepends on the timing of the PAX figure. The 13.5k figure takes in to account many of the sales on the last day which sell at a faster rate during the week. None of this is scientific though :D All true, I guess some people could have bought tickets and never shown up due to other reasons as well. Ali Ali Ali, why don't you stick to slagging football on twitter & watching meat heads bash each other and leave us to marvel at the king of sports. @alichahrour94 @alichahrour123 ?

Perth's crowd was fantastic. Has this just been building all year or was it a special day?

Could be the lowest drawing round for some time, this week.
Sydney on Thursday, Adelaide giving up the ghost tonight, City at home after losing a derby, and Jets v Victory moved to Monday. WSW v CCM the only hope of a good crowd, but at 5pm on sunday at Spotless I won't hold my breath.

6,006 in Adelaide.
That's an average of 7,193 so far this round, lowest since 2009.

Average attendance for the season just slipped below 13k. Last seasons average was 12,300, the effect of those extra 41,000 people at the Sydney derby was to add an extra 300 to average gates so true growth in overall attendances must be measured above the12,600 mark - it's not looking too good at this stage. Clearly Cahill, Yoshi and Ice-pops have failed to raise crowds, what to do??

After 92 games we are right in the middle of the range of total attendances in the seasons with the current 10 clubs. We are 55k off the top season and 57k ahead of the lowest season. In the final 43 games 3 seasons have attracted 510k to 515k and the other season attracted 460k. If the current trend continues we will have our second highest seasons home and away total.

What the last two posts tell us is that this is the A-League's natural level. Some years it will be a little bit up, other years a little bit down.

@ Gyfox
Fair point, but are we happy with that, are average attendances of 12,300-12,900 a fair reflection of what we can achieve?
I don't think they are. Cahill represent a major cash investment in the code (mainly thanks to CFG plus $500k of the FFAs marketing budget), Yoshi was a well delivered campaign but came with a poor finish ... so are average attendances in the mid 12k range acceptable?
Again I'd say not, aggregate attendances have also plateaued at around 1.7 million, the game has stagnated.

The HAL is certainly not at its natural level and only an idiot would draw such a conclusion from "the two previous posts" lol
Roar, Sydney and wanderers are all capable of averaging 18k (excluding derbies) - improvements there might be a good starting point

The average has been bumping around the same range for at least 5 seasons now. TV ratings appear to have peaked about 5 seasons ago.

I can't disagree with your second post. But let's be realistic Nix, Adelaide, Mariners and possibly Jets are not going to significantly improve their attendances; glory and City might but they need to unlock something that's not immediately obvious; the three clubs I mentioned are more than capable of putting another 200,000 on aggregate attendances which would lift the average to close to 15k - or an average equivalent to NRL attendances - that would be a major achievement

Every season teams will be up and teams will be down. They will never fire at the same time. The league seems to have reached its peak in terms of balanced averages In an unbalanced league its likely we would see strong Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane teams all firing at the same time. it is also likely we will see more interesting squads than just 2 marquees and $2.6m worth of players. The lower teams might only have core but in any season the bottom teams only have core, so no loss.

@ bluebird
I don't disagree with the sentiment you express - a more open league and p/r would contribute to attendances BUT the competition has suffered a lack of marketing - the ffa control Hal marketing and make no headway each season despite spending millions.
Imagine what could be achieved if say $750k was given to each club to spend on local marketing, or if games were scheduled better, or if the fixturing wasn't as dumb as (eg Roar playing Nix twice in their last 4 home games).
There's more that can be done before we even get to the points you raise.
