WP have averaged more than AU once in history - 11/12 season, by about 500. WP have out averaged Central coast 3 times in 10 years. Out averaged Newcastle once.

Try all you want champ, bigger numbers are bigger than smaller numbers. We learn that at maybe 2 or 3 years old

You think the FFA said to Wellington: your attendances aren't good enough. Drop it to 5k otherwise you're out.

Is that seriously what you think?

3 more years and you're gone, unless the owner pulls the plug earlier which is likely. It's sad because in one season they showed they might have potential.

Those averages are quiet good, In fact better then 3 failed clubs. If 8K is good for SFC on a winning run then 5K is perfection for Nixs on a losing run.
Just think we are still going to be around for the next TV deal come 6 years FLMAO!. Maybe then our crowds will grow to a metrics of 5.5k.

The license is reviewed after 4 years. That is, if they fail they're gone in 4. Done. Finito. To je všechno.  If you think they were served with an ultimatum that they should improve their attendances by -25% then your smugness is justified.

Maybe, just maybe the FFA actually demanded an improvement on those "quite good" numbers before it. Rather than the worst crowds in the club's history.

It is worrying that a small element of football supporters think like this and actually take some sort of perverted enjoyment from seeing a club/community being removed from the competition.

I think an 8k average for Wellington is decent and rather than hoping for them to be kicked out, I hope the FFA can support the owners (who are doing a damn fine considering the constant chatter over their place in the competition) by providing a solid assurance over their medium term future.

Secondly, I hope the Nix can build off that stability and grow their attendances, media exposure and general following across NZ.

Thirdly, football is a global game and the FFA is a member federation of FIFA. It not only has a responsibility to Australian Football, but also the global game. If Australian Football can do its bit and assist NZ football then it should do so.

Fourth, the existence of the Nix has no impact on expansion decisions. If there is sufficient interest and investment in other key markets, then the decision to expand should simply be made on the feasibility of that option.

Lastly, what good does removing teams do for the game other than pandering to some misplaced nationalism?

The Nix crowds looked better in the smaller Lower Hutt ground. I've been told by Wellington residents it is too far from the city centre through .

Oh well, if 50,000 people are prepared to stand in a Melbourne downpour to watch Aussie sheilas knock themselves out, it’s no wonder that the dumb, violent, ethnic game of soccer is embarrassingly displaying even more banks of empty seats.

I meant this round Einstein :D

Usually when you use a sample size to back a point, it's usually more than 1...

Obviously when talking about dragging the league down im talking about the whole season. Or in this case id be happy to even say the past 5 years. Stats prove it. A one off outlier does nothing to prove a point.

Wellington is single-handedly bringing the league down in basically all metrics. By far the shittest club in the league.

There is nothing wrong with Nix crowds, people need to get over this metric shit that the FFA love to push. Smaller teams need smaller stadiums to play in but as we all know in Australia it is not that simple. In saying that I have never liked a NZ team in the A-League, we need to look after ourselves and try to help our players not another countries.

I'd kick them out now but the system we have doesn't discourage teams from squatting on their position in the league and the Nix are just taking advantage of that

You're arguing that we need to take care of our own players.  The Nix don't stop us doing that- the lack of Australian expansion options does.

More failed teams is the last thing the A-League needs.

In all honesty, expansion to 14 teams (for example) is likely to lead to more teams getting home attendances in the 6k to 8k range, so from that perspective, the Nix don't really look all that bad.

Next season and the start of our new 10 year licence plus that extra TV cash cow we will see a more competitive Nixs team and more crowds. There is still talk of getting a boutique stadium out near the Wellington air port too.

They were set benchmarks to be achieved in 4 seasons (of which this is the first) to earn a 3 year extension. Now you seem to think that "metric" if you will is "take an average of 9 years worth of attendances before the 4 year probationary period, then ensure you reduce it to 5,000 to earn a 3 year extension." It just gets better and better.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with having clubs that average between 5-10k. As long as they play in appropriate stadiums.

I would say "There is absolutely nothing wrong with having clubs that average between 5-10k. As long as they are viable"

At the end of the day - who gives a shit. If people don't like the look of it on TV, they can turn off as they do for other games. Its not like Sunday afternoon games featuring two small teams are going to rate better if there are less seats
