Has anyone compared the AFLW ratings on Fox with the FTA ratings as a guide for what we might expect from games on real FTA next season?

+xHas anyone compared the AFLW ratings on Fox with the FTA ratings as a guide for what we might expect from games on real FTA next season? Last sat night dogs v demons got 214k on Seven/7Mate (5 city metro) and 71k on Fox, which comes out at almost exactly a 3:1 ratio.

Didn't want to start a new thread and too lazy to search for a suitable thread to post in but does anyone have the info on or is able to point me in the direction of the A-leagues previous Tv deals and what they were worth including the original one?
Cheers in advance

Cheers in advance This is my memory of it: Season 1: Fox start broadcasting for a cost that was around $1 mill or less Season 2 to 8: $120 mill for 7 years Season 9 to 12: $160 mill for 4 years (takes us up to now) Season 13 to 18: $346 mill for 6 years (but base cost is about $286 mill with extras provided fore certain triggers).

So from 9-12 to 13-18. We have gone from $40m per season to what $47m per season. I know we still have to add a bit for FTA and online but this sounds about right with our ratings. Any news on crickets deal. It seems this is going to have the most influence on our deal.

Also note that the latest deal ($346 mill) does not include Socceroos WCQs. The previous two deals encompassed the WCQs + the Asian Cup (last deal). So you'd need to add the $ figure (around 1 million US per competitive game from memory) the AFC pays the FFA for each competitive Socceroos game.

This is a bit more complicated, but Bonita has mentioned a few times around the traps that the WCQs has never been the FFA's to sell, so none of those Fox broadcast deals between it and the FFA ever included WCQs, they and Asian cup qualifiers and the ACL have always been separate.

DOn't forget that 9-12 was for the full package of Socceroos as well, whereas this time it's only for the a-league. So if the FFA could sell socceroos for 10m a year, you would effectively add that to the total. But yeah considering the ratings in the past year or so, a medium increase was to be expected but nothing more.

ACL Ratings lastnight:
46k and 47k.
Forget the casuals, i'd say the football supporters aren't really buying into the ACL.
My opinion/theory is that until the prize money increase to the point that it becomes a massive windfall for the clubs, that the fans and clubs themselves wont take it very seriously. A big windfall will incentivise the clubs to market the games better perhaps, but more importantly it means greater chance of bankrolling the club for future years and could mean bigger and better players coming in. It's truly hard to get excited when you know that club is bleeding coin just to partake in the comp itself.

Those ratings are actually pretty good for the ACL, especially when you consider the result in one game, and the fact that the Roar game was a pretty tedious affair.

+xThose ratings are actually pretty good for the ACL, especially when you consider the result in one game, and the fact that the Roar game was a pretty tedious affair. Nup the ratings arent good at all. Well below aleague avg and this is meant to be a premier comp. Games were also played at home and at prime time. I can understand the lack of attendance perhaps because its a week night, but no one is stopping football fans from watching at home. Its also the 11th year we're in the acl, so should really be doing better. But like i said, with time im hoping it will pick up, once the clubs are rewarded handsomly just for partaking in it, rather than it being viewed as an expense. Would be nice if some.of.the big chinese clubs played here with some recogniseable stars. That would help with attendances and also some improved media exposure.

I don't see why people are making a fuss over these viewing figures, they're pretty good:
- HAL games with two Australian teams gets around 80k
- ACL game with one Australian team gets 50k

+xI don't see why people are making a fuss over these viewing figures, they're pretty good:- HAL games with two Australian teams gets around 80k- ACL game with one Australian team gets 50k That's right, we see this in the Super Rugby all the time. Two Australian teams might get half-decent ratings, but if it's only one Australian team involved, it dips, and if there are no Australian teams, the ratings are next to zero.

The Rugby season has just started and it looks like they are struggling worse than Football. Maybe the same problem.Lack of funds for marketing. Nobody will convince me womens AFL is better than park AFL.If you market you can get anyone to watch.
