Big win for Villa over Wednesay 2-0. Jedi played a full game. Barnsley drew 1-1 with Ipswich, where Jones played 90 and Williams came on in the 79th.Elder not in squad. Massive win in the scheme of the season for Huddersfield, with Mooy coming on midway through the second half. Newcastle also lost, so it's getting pretty tight at the top end. Burton got a good 1-0 win, with Irvine playing 90. QPR had a 0-0 draw, with Mass playing 90. Bristol got a crucial 1-0 win, with Wright playing 90. Meredith played 90 against Coventry, for whom Rose wasn't in the team. 2-0 to Bradford. Chris Herd played the first 45 minutes for Gillingham in a 3-2 win. My gosh that guy is made of tissue paper. Not sure if it was an injury, but he has been so in and out of that team. Bury and Oldham played out a 0-0 draw. Beadling wasn't in the squad, but Burgess faced Aiden O'Neill. Peterborough lost to Oxford 2-1, with Inman coming on in the 68th min. Again no Cisak for Leyton, as they lose again. He's dropped so far down the radar, he hasn't made the team sheet for several rounds. Again no Nizic for Morecambe, as they lost again too. Leckie played a full 90 in a 2-2 draw for Inglestadt, where they came from behind twice. Mauk not in the squad for NEC as they lost 1-0. In the Scottish Championship, Lynden Dykes played 66 min for Queen of the South in their 1-0 loss to Greenock Morton. Partick Thistle drew 1-1, with Edwards providing the assist. Scotty Mac played a full game for Motherwell as they lost 1-0 to Aberdeen. And Behich played a full game in Turkey.

Luongo got a 9.9 on Whoscored with 4 tackles and 13 dribbles (25 for the whole team!). Pretty much every site i have seen has scored him over 9.0. Away against a very good Leeds side fighting for promotion. That is two weeks in a row since coming back from being dropped that he is arguably man of the match.

it should also be mentioned that bailey wright is the 14th best player in the league according to whoscored ahead of luongo (21) and jedi (25)
all the usual caveats: whoscored of course cannot measure positional awareness and seems to believe pass accuracy is for losers

annual cautious optimism for next year thread (before all the best players get injured after starting for a higher league):
rogic still looking strong for celtic. Hopefully can put in a big year in the champions league mooy wright irvine jedi and luongo all look a chance to be picked up by an epl club with mooy looking a good shout for promotion Langerak looks a great chance for promotion with his club on top of the table Leckie could play his 3rd season in the bundesliga and might even score an occasional goal
At the moment though we have some wasted talent in kruse, sainsbury and smith. Hopefully they get their club situation sorted We also have some potential up and comers in o'neill, jones and elder

+xWas out all day at the Hannover game. Pretty sure Luongo started as QPR highlights were on at the English pub. I watched our Hannover, a pretty hard and fast game, some hard tackles and headers and whatnot! Great crowd as well.

+xWatching Leckie play now, quick feet. He should be one of the first players named in the starting Socceroos side. He plays very different for leverkusen and Australia,

Quite the reverse, he probably plays wide target man/playmaker, but he is everywhere, both wings and midfield, he is their standout player by a long shot.

Article on Sainsbury's move to inter. Good read http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/blog/2017/02/07/not-all-glitters-gold-sainsbury"To alleviate my own bias and national sense of pride for an Australian playing at the highest level, I contacted a well-known Italian football journalist for an opinion. The response? “He’ll be lucky to play a minute,” was said bluntly. And unfortunately for Sainsbury he may be spot on. The first reaction to his signing that did come to mind was, with all due respect to Sainsbury, has Italian football fallen so far behind?" Dammmmm

Correction. Jones not in squad today. They're up 2:0.
Icardi has scored 3 goals in the first 25min for Inter. If they get to 4 with 20 left it'd be great to see Sainsbury get some minutes. Unfortunately there's a massive bench all killing for game time. What a shame he could get a loan to Pescara or Empoli.
