look I know Trent is sitting on the bench, but Inter are winning 7-1 with 20 minutes left to play. That's gotta be like, some sort of record score line huh for a league game ?

Burnsy played a full game in Toyko reserves as he and Peter Utaka left out of first team which crashed 3-0 to Gamba. The Duke watched from the bench for S-pulse who won 2-0. Degenek started for Yokahama who lost to Kashima.

+xArticle on Sainsbury's move to inter. Good read http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/blog/2017/02/07/not-all-glitters-gold-sainsbury"To alleviate my own bias and national sense of pride for an Australian playing at the highest level, I contacted a well-known Italian football journalist for an opinion. The response? “He’ll be lucky to play a minute,” was said bluntly. And unfortunately for Sainsbury he may be spot on.The first reaction to his signing that did come to mind was, with all due respect to Sainsbury, has Italian football fallen so far behind?"Dammmmm we get it bro, you think he wont play. fair enough. back to the bin Oscar.

did anyone catch the villa game with jedinak playing in central defence?? ive been hoping this would happen for years (as many of you may have noted) and from all accounts he was fantastic. ive always thought he could be a much better central defender than midfielder. There was a big, bearded ‘Rhodes block’ inside Villa Park today as Aston Villa’s midfield enforcer Mile Jedinak slotted into a two-man central defensive partnership alongside skipper James Chester. The clean sheet says it all to be honest. The Jedi was assured as you like in there, marshalling the much talked about Jordan Rhodes. Following Nathan Baker’s 25th-minute injury, Steve Bruce opted to bring on Alan Hutton as opposed for a like-for-like in either Tommy Elphick or Micah Richards.
And it proved to be a masterstroke. Alan Hutton and Jodan Amavi gave protection to both James Bree and Neil Taylor to nullify Wednesday’s wing threat, with Hutton and Bree then swapping roles. My immediate reaction to Jedinak going to centre-half was it mirrored the famous Stevie Gerrard quarter-back role under Brendan Rodgers’ Liverpool.
He slotted in nicely; won headers for fun and barked orders out to keep the midfield in check. Jedinak likes to have all of the play in front of him anyway. He’s comfortable on the ball and looked to pick passes out wide for Amavi and Albert Adomah. One lapse in concentration did come after 36 minutes when Sam Winnall peeled off the Aussie inside the box before the ball made its way to Wallace who fizzed over. Rhodes only got the better of him on just the one occasion, with Jedinak allowing the ball to bounce before the Wednesday front man fired a half-volley over from the edge of the box. Jedinak moved back into midfield late on when Elphick replaced Adomah. But, all in all, Jedinak’s hour-or-so showing at centre-half was a good one. There wasn’t much pace up front for Wednesday which of course helped. But this is definitely food for thought for Bruce following Baker’s first-half injury. After all, Jedinak’s experienced as they come and an old head on old shoulders which is something Villa perhaps lack defensively. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/how-aston-villas-mile-jedinak-12728151

+x+x+xIf we could just have one Aussie footballer do well in the top leagues.... just one like jedinak or leckie? I thought Rogic was good in the UCL or does that not count? It doesn't count. As long as he continues to play for a shit football team who plays a shit style of football, Rogic will never be world class, nor come even close to such a standard. Shit plyer. Shit team. Enough said!!!!

I don't disagree. Though I would add that Celtic play (or at leaset try to play) good football in the UCL also. On a side note, what do you mean by - "Scotland does not have a top tier league"?

That awesome Sparta fan on Reddit had posted another update about Goodwin and Dougall https://www.reddit.com/r/Aleague/comments/5xta0a/a_3rd_update_on_aussies_craig_goodwin_and_kenneth/If anyone has a Reddit login, can you ask him if he ever saw Oar play and who he thinks is better out of Oar and Goodwin?

In case you haven't seen them, the guy wrote two earlier posts, links found in that one. Very interested to see the comments on Goodwins crossing.
Just quietly, something the size & shape of Sparta's stadium would be perfect for a Geelong or Canberra A-league team.
