Nice to finally have a home FFA cup for a change. But we never seems to get a good draw. I can't wait till the just do the draw at random than manufacturing cup magic, even when it happens naturally.

We did have a home game against Perth first up last year though.

Regardless, BR vs MV at Perry Park would be damn amazing. Place will be packed.

Why would BR need approval? The stadium is ok for tv.

Iirc NJ played PG at Magics ground.

GREAT NEWS: Midfield duo Caletti & Pepper sign on

Young gun Joe Caletti & experienced midfielder Jacob Pepper sign on for the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 season
Friday, 30 June 2017 -
Brisbane Roar are pleased to announce that exciting youngster Joe Caletti and experienced midfielder Jacob Pepper will remain in orange for the Hyundai A-League 2017/18 season.
With pre-season training beginning for Roar’s Senior side next week, Caletti and Pepper will further strengthen Brisbane’s central midfield.
18-year-old Caletti broke into John Aloisi’s side in Round 20 of the Hyundai A-League 2016/17 season and made an instant impact with his composure on the ball and well-timed defensive interventions.
Brisbane’s Head Coach is extremely pleased with Caletti’s development as a footballer on and off the field.
“We know Joey is a talented footballer who has already shown the ability to make a strong contribution to our side,” Aloisi said.

Caletti
“His hard work and patience both on and off the pitch last season translated into some extremely positive performances.
“Joey, although still only young, will be an important member of this year’s squad we believe.”
Caletti’s emergence as a dependable midfield option was rewarded at the Brisbane Roar Awards Night, where he took home the Breakthrough Player Award for 2016/17.
Brisbane’s No.8 Jacob Pepper (below) will also remain with the Club, after moving to the Roar from Western Sydney Wanderers prior to the Hyundai A-League 2016/17 season.

The 25-year-olds wealth of experience during his seven seasons playing in Australia’s elite football competition will continue to be of benefit to the Roar, Head Coach John Aloisi believes.
“Jacob is an incredibly versatile footballer who trains hard every single session. His ability to help push his teammates each and every day is invaluable to our squad,” Aloisi said.
“With another hectic playing schedule ahead in 2017/18, Jacob will be called upon in helping to bring success to our team.”
Pepper, a former Australian U23 representative, made 12 appearances for Brisbane during the Hyundai A-League 2016/17 season.

Wouldn't mind that (if he can stay fit) but would prefer he be a backup rather than first choice.

Can't see D'aggers being anything other than an understudy next season, so is Corey Gameiro the new No. 9 or the new understudy??

Gosh i hope he can stay fit. Gameiro has a terrible run of injuries, which equates to re injuries and being injury prone. Has the potential to be great, but speeds gone. Has not played much to be sharp in front of goal. As per aggers he says he prefers being a AM or 2nd striker, although he is being molded into a striker.

I am not very hopeful this season with the players we are losing and signing. Really need some quality visa signings or i think we will be making up the numbers this season. As our play style and tactically has been going backwards.

One would hope Gameiro would accept an understudy position because he sure hasn't warranted a starting position with all his injuries and us pinning all our hopes on him as our new #1 No.9.

I am hoping we recruit an overseas striker and Nathan Burns as a front 4 type utility player. I believe we are only 2-3 good signings away from being fully competitive this season. Henrique is free again. Would we take him back?

With the money freed up by the loss of Oar,McClaren,Borello ,Broich ,Arana and Petratos, you would hope it hasn't all spent on BKF and Pappa.
So hopefully a few more quality Visa players will make a difference.Neyma Burns upfront would be nice, but I am sure Jets would be first in line.
Aloisi has a job on his hands to find attacking players. We really need that quality playmaker to replace Broich and some younger faster legs to back up Lolman and BKF on the wings.
BKF will find the Brisbane heat a lot different to Melbourne and Lolman Is not going to be doing half the running, that Borello did.

Yeah 100%. Wouldn't start him. Starting to worry that Borrello will be a bigger loss than we anticipated, in part due to his defensive work.

Burns would be excellent but I reckon he's heading to Newcastle.

Got a decent scoring record over in the Netherlands. I reckon we'd do well to sign him.

I like Daggers as well, but worried he couldn't do 10-15 goals a season though as he's still young. And if he's injured, who replaces him? But with FBK and someone of Nathan Burns experience in could work.

But surely the free marquee slot is going to someone of Ruud Boymans stature (that was lifted off one of the Roar rumour mills) as it's the most critical signing JA will make this winter?

No way we could rely on him as first choice striker just yet. An experienced striker (like Boymans) could teach him alot and I reckon he'd be better for it.

So when do you, the Gameiro deal is done so i am told and that wont be the last forward signed so when and how do you develop your young players. How many games would a player like D,Agostino have played in the last 2 years?

The answer would be, not enough. D'aggers is 19 with 9 appearances most of them subbed-on I'd guess.

Well I'm assuming he'll continue to be in and around the first team squad for next season. He will continue to learn from the likes of Holman, Khalfallah, and whatever other players we bring in. We can't rely on him as yet to score our goals for us on a regular basis. I personally don't think he's good enough yet.

Those figures are nearly correct so since 7th March 2015 Brisbane Roar in there wisdom have thought it best for DAgostino to play 20 games of NPL football from u18 to seniors then add 1 full game in Thailand and 8 sub appearances that dont even total 1 game.
Thats 22 games in 117 weeks, 17 minutes of football a week to develop your best young prospect, if the sportstg figures are correct he last played in the NPL on 12th June 2016 so he has actually only played 2 games in over 13 months.
How is this allowed to happen.
