im not to worried about Aggers time. Holman and FBK are not 90 minute players. I also have a feeling we might go with a back 3. We have 3 first team CBs, plus bowles and youth team players back up, or revert to a back 4. devere and pappa would not be cheap, North should still be taking some space. I just don't see why you would have one of those 3 on the bench.
brown and hinget to be the wingbacks. mckay/caletti/kristensen holders. FKB and holman the attacking mids and striker.

Those playing figure for D'Agastino are abysmal. We wonder why our youth can't perform for national teams. So I presume he is too old for the Roar's npl youth team? What a terrible situation. This is why we need a second div asap.He could be loaned to a second div along with a lot of youth players.

#BRFC are close to signing a young winger. I have been told it's Jesse Makarounas but yet to confirm.
Saw this on twitter from MrWalkerAgent

Signing an "attacking midfielder" with 50 appearances for only 1 goal. Sounds like he'll fit right in. Do not want!

Makarounas has always had technical ability, but makes the oddest decisions with the ball. I don't know if it's a lack of composure/confidence and is something he can be taught, or if he just doesn't have it. I can't tell you how many times I've seen him with the ball, look up to make a pass and the passing option gets closed down, but he just makes the pass anyway? It looks like he panics and just does something to do it. Hoole is another one who does it.

I remember when he had a huge sulk about Perth not giving him games only to sign with MV and get fuck all games instead. Not the greatest decision maker.

Makarounas. Really?
what a horrible signing if true. Brady and many other youth players have had a far better showing than him.

I have the same sentiment towards Makarounas as you do, it doesn't bother me too much tho as Roars coaching staff always seem to be able to make players better. This just shows the lack of depth in the professional football ranks as this would be a squad filler of a signing and would sit behind Brady in terms of selection I recon

I've always thought Makarounas to be a CAM. If he's being signed as depth to Holman, then I'm happy with that.

+xMakarounas. Really? what a horrible signing if true. Brady and many other youth players have had a far better showing than him. Brady has played a total of 177 mins of football in the last 2 years, 90 of those were in Thailand when the club clearly thought the game was of no importance. So much for player development.

The irony in your statement is Brady was being kept out of the side by a teenager called Brandon Borrello who was amassing 75 appearances before his 21st birthday.
Joe Calletti got 10 appearances last season and he's 18, James Donachie was a teenager when he got the first of his 62 caps, Corey Brown is only 23 and yet has already made 76 appearances for Roar. D'aggers is 19 and played in 9 games (behind Maccers who was only 23) and Dane Ingham is 18 with 3 appearances;
That's without doing a list of who's left the club ...
You can write the words but it doesn't make them true - Roar are good on youth development, better than any A league club with only mariners comparable, and will get better with the academy system.
😂😂😂😂😂👍

I do think D'aggers should have had about twice the minutes he has by now given how well he has done.
Also Hingert probably should have gotten game time earlier. If he did in that crucial era of his development he might have ended up a better player

If D'aggers gets more game time over the past two years then Maccers gets less game time.

Busy day - Club looking for a new sponsor - Steadfast covered up on training kits Also new training gear - maroon and orange together making an appearance again - however been confirmed by Stef who is now the club's media manager, that we'll be sticking with black shorts. And, Aloisi says we're close to two-three more signings, including two internationals and one of them a marquee Roar training kit

This. I find it amazing that his name keeps popping up as a potential first team player, he simply isn't good enough. When you're a winger in such a system you need to have a decent first touch and some variety to your game, Shannon has pace and very little else.

Some players like Brady need to talk to Craig Johnston about how to improve on the basics. He was on Tv last night promoting his training systems and was scathing of Aussie youth not learning basic skills. But positively he said it was easily solvable.

Harry's freakish fourth hat-trick built on defence STRIKING FORM: Western Pride striker Harry Sawyer scrambles the Moreton Bay United defence, on his way to his fourth hat-trick in five games.Carl GroenewaldHAVING linked with hat-trick whiz Harry Sawyer at Brisbane Roar, Cameron Crestani knew what ability the Western Pride footballer had. But even Crestani watched in awe as Sawyer completed his fourth three-goal haul in five National Premier Leagues matches on Saturday night. In what must be an NPL Queensland record, Sawyer scored two fine field goals and converted another penalty. That boosted his tally to 13 goals since returning to Pride after a stint with A-League club Newcastle. Crestani has been at the other end of the field enjoying Sawyer's carnage. "Harry has definitely improved a lot,'' the central defender said. "I was with him at the Roar and then he went away to Newcastle. "It's freakish - four hat-tricks - you just sit back and admire it.'' Crestani was also thrilled to see young goal scorers like Dylan Wenzel-Halls being rewarded. "Those boys are putting in hard work on the training paddock and the whole team gets around a celebration. "I love a goal. I love four goals, however many it is, as long as we win the game.'' Former Brisbane Roar footballer Cameron Crestani.Kevin FarmerCrestani joined Pride this season after playing three A-League games and being part of three Asian Championship League matches for Brisbane Roar. His arrival has coincided with Sawyer's demolition job on reputable opponents like Brisbane Roar Youth, Redlands United, Brisbane City and latest victims Moreton Bay United. Pride's 4-0 victory at the Briggs Road Sporting Complex was another high quality display. Crestani praised his team's defence as much as its attacking might following the latest satisfying triumph. "It's good to get the win. That's the first thing,'' he said. "But as a defender, getting clean sheets is amazing. "It goes a long way to winning a game.'' Crestani is working at the back with ever-reliable players like Hayden Mchenery, Delors Tuyishime, captain Jesse Rigby and Will Farlane. Goalkeeper Max Davison has also been tidy. "It's actually flown by pretty fast,'' the former A-League player said after his fifth game at the Ipswich-based club. "It's a quality group of players. Everyone can see we are playing good footy and we're obviously getting the results. "It's a good environment. "I'm loving every minute of it.'' The Stanthorpe-bred, former QAS and Brisbane Roar player encouraged his current Pride teammates to aim higher. "There's players in this team that 100 per cent can go into the A-League,'' he said. With age on his side, 21-year-old Crestani is keen to return to Australia's premier domestic competition, as is Sawyer after his incredible goal scoring rout. Sawyer's first goal in the 52nd minute came after a superb cross from Mchenery. Sawyer's second goal in the 65th minute was a penalty, awarded when hare-like speedster Wenzel-Halls was brought down in the goal area. Sawyer sealed his fourth hat-trick with a stylish 88th minute strike that hit the crossbar and deflected across the goal line. Wenzel-Halls had another outstanding game threatening to score a number of times. He also almost scored when he zigzagged through a number of defenders before hitting the corner of the crossbar. He was finally rewarded, and deservedly saluted the air in the 67th minute, when he pounced on a through-ball and scored with 15 minutes to go. Western Pride's under-18 side maintained top spot in their NPL competition, beating Moreton Bay United 3-0 in the earlier match on another chilly night. State of play NPL: Western Pride 4 (Harry Sawyer 3, Dylan Wenzel-Halls) def Moreton Bay United 0. Next game: Saturday - Western Pride v FNQ Heat in Cairns. U18: Western Pride 3 (Jackson Bray, Alex Parsons, Jack Sharples) def Moreton Bay United 0. https://www.qt.com.au/news/harrys-freakish-fourth-hat-trick-built-on-defence/3198343/

Unnamed as yet. Apparently early 20's, out of Spain's lower league and training for a about month with the squad. Not sure what the deal is

It's nice to see Sawyer banging the goals in. I'm a Jets fan, and I honestly really liked him last season. He was in the worst team and often was brought one once it was too late. He's strong and pretty fast too. I feel that he was really unlucky not to get a new contract. In a way, I hope that it comes back to bite us. He has shown that he is awkwardly in the level between NPL and A-League, currently. In a decent team with a coach who actually knows what he's doing, I think he could make quite a future for himself. His work ethic is also great. The amount of times he ran back to defend late in games and won headers/out-muscled players was pretty amazing for a striker. I hope he gets a second go.

@ BRFC
well I doubt he's on trial for the fun of it, especially with the Spanish season due to kick off next month. Word is he's technically superior to any one we've got but lacks the aggression of a D'Aggers or Gameiro.
If Roar sign a marquee No. 9 I'd be surprised if they keep him but I've a feeling Gameiro/D'Aggers are our two strikers next season so they might keep him then as third choice back up.

We surely wouldn't be pinning our hopes on a young Spanish player as our #1 ST with an inexperienced D'Agostino and injury prone Gameiro as back ups?

If they're confident in Gameiro and his fitness I recon they'll run with him, D'Aggers as back up is more than comforting. They've got three signings to make, if two really good singers are signed then it's less problematic (especially if one can cover 9) but if they sign a marquee No. 9 and one singer then we just shift the risk to the wings - in a salary capped meague there's always a potential problem area it's just where. Roar have hit defence and midfield sorted so it's all down to attacking options.
