How does everyone feel about half this Olyroos squad not being eligible for the Olympics in 2020. Looks like qualification to the January China tournament is a must then maybe they may pick player's who will be eligible for 2020 Once qualified.

+xHow does everyone feel about half this Olyroos squad not being eligible for the Olympics in 2020. Looks like qualification to the January China tournament is a must then maybe they may pick player's who will be eligible for 2020 Once qualified. +xMabil, Galloway and Rose seem like very odd omissions 🤔 I'm hoping that's the case too lebo_roo. And Bowden, Galloway and Mabil are actually two of the 'Older/Ineligible for 2020 Players' we're talking about (Both were born in 1995). Gombau must also have faith in the likes of Nigris, Baccus and Cowburn (born 95) to do the job in the full/wing back areas and Kamau (Who is also 95-born), Buhagiar and O'Dougherty can do the job where Mabil would play? Of the currently selected batch; Wilson with a good pre-season again should be the beast he was with Glory, early last season. And Buhagiar will hopefully be a point of difference for us, as he showed at-times against most A-League opponents last season. Calletti will help with controlling the midfield in possession and being paired with Wilson could be a perfect match. McGree should be keen to impress, given his recent move. Daniel Arzani has long been a bright talent, developing in the top-class surrounds of City - I just hope he seizes his chances, because we need his technical x-factor to be shining and competing for minutes with technically improficient, but odds-on starters like Sotirio (Who is another 95-born). Lachlan Scott has shown flashes of potential with the Wanderers and he has his chance here to be leading the Olyroos line. The defensive options are generally strong, albeit a slight worry into the future as Deng is the only one eligible for 2020. But about the wider squad in that area, are the likes of Kyle Rowles, Johnny Koutroumbis, Ivan Vujic and Dane Ingham, so our options are improving there and they should all impress this coming season to force their way into Gombau's future squads. I hope Patrick Flottman sees more opportunity with Sydney FC, as unlikely as that seems. We will need more eligible CB talents coming through this season and with the 1997-98 generation turning 20/21 this season, that may well start to happen.

I don't have an issue with older players being selected - we're at a stage now where our under age teams aren't even qualifying for Olympics/major tournaments anymore. If we must use an older squad to qualify for these things, then so be it. It's better than not qualifying at all.

I think we should treat the olympics as a mini world cup since we are a non-footballing nation and in the general publics mind its just as big Also its easier to get a medal (and great exposure too) since some of the bigger nations aren't as focused on results.
That is to say while I think "results don't matter" at u17 and u20 level, given australias sporting environment results should be everything at u23

Today the boys play Laos. Bit a do or die clash. A draw is enough however against Laos we should demand a lot more considering Laos are 3 points behind us already. Do we have a link?

Australia dominating so far but no goals to show. Build-up play has been great once again.

https://mycujoo.tv/ch/364?id=7072&t=1h41m23sTry again to write that in English: highlights of Thailand game. Might find a better link around it to other games in the comp. Thailand killing all comers at this event.
