+xthe defensive structure of this team, albeit against weak opposition, is miles ahead of the u15 mob the u15 mob will turn out to be a strong group once they mature and add such things to their game I think If they get senior level opportunities then yes

Dont feed the troll guys....anyway its was a good performance is it me or was the pitch awful to play on...inconsistent bounce everywhere.
The Vidmar's should never get involved with the national teams ever again, enjoying gombau's more expressive style of football.

So the Olyroos defeated Singapore 7-0 and are 9-0 GD now, with one game to play, taking on Myanmar (Burma), early this Sunday evening, the 23rd of July. We've all-but qualified for the Final Tournament, scheduled for January 2018.

And regarding the U15 elimination, I think the problem lies more with the coaching and the general tactics than the ability of our players moreso than ever. From the games I watched this age group was one of the most technically skilled I've seen so far, finishing aside (and that's another problem within itself), I was happy with the individual progress. The fact that we lost to Vietnam (a bogey team for us at youth level) and Thailand (a bogey team to us at all levels) won't be the factor that prevents these kids - or the national team as a whole - from progressing into a fantastic set of players in the future. Not having regular gametime particularly against seniors AND a competent coaching environment to nurture this talent is what will hinder them from fully evolving into quality. Right now we have neither of those two things. If we can focus our resources on getting these kids into a professional/full-time environment mixed with senior players as soon as possible AND start cultivating some qualified coaches then things will look a lot brighter. The talent is definitely there with these kids, it just needs to be properly unlocked.

+x+xA very positive performance. Alot of depth in this age group Pack it in. We played Brunei and Singapore ffs. No need to be too glass half-empty either though - Yes, we did play them and after a mixed performance first game, we've grown and performed 'to task' in this outing. What is most pleasing is the confidence booster for our previously goal-shy forwards, especially Blackwood. He took his chances well and hopefully he pushes on at Adelaide Utd. We've also now seen the potential of Milislav Popovic - he's a real genuine talent and we hope he pushes on in Germany, as he well should! How had we not come across this guy before?! He's a future Socceroo for sure! Trent Buhagiar stepped up as I had the feeling he would. He will be a performer for us come tougher opponents too. Some players fail to step up at NT level and in such tournaments, but others really stand up. McGree and especially Caletti showed good quality of lads who are well eligible for Tokyo 2020 and that's most pleasing. Daniel Arzani is a very exciting talent and has the capability to show up any opponent. We can rightfully anticipate now a similar showing against Myanmar, finishing with a double-digit GD, topping our group and entering into the January 2018 tournament full of confidence and additional experience for the coming Tokyo 2020 boys.

I like the man as he is a great character but as a coach he was overrated, not trolling. He should take the lows as well as the highs as any coach does when a team wins or loses. Last game against Brunei was unacceptable, this game they did well so in turn he gets some credit as well as the players.

When you keep losing to Thailand and Vietnam, they are not bogey sides. It means you aren't good enough. When one of our Joeys played last Sept they were beaten by Kyrgyzstan and lapped 6-0 by Japan and finished last in their group. Are Japan and Kyrgyzstan a bogey side too? Yes they lost to Vietnam then as well. We struggle against third world countries ,who themselves struggle against Japan. Japan then struggle against the top nations. It shows how far behind we are. Maybe the ntc is working and players are improving. That means the coaches are crap and there needs to be an overhaul. If the players are not improving then kiss the ntc goodbye. So who is scrutinising what is happening and making decisions on what to do? Surely when FFA spend so much money on youth development ,there is accountability measured against KPI's? How much more of this rubbish before someone says it's time to change?

By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Lukerubinho, The Joeys got through to the final 16in 2015 u/17 World Cup.But unfortunately were put to the sword by Nigeria 6-0. Beating Argentina 2-1 was a good result. But at that World Cup Argentina were hopeless. They scored 1 goal and conceded 8..They lost every game .But to put it in context ,Argentina have never been strong in u17.They have never won this World Cup and haven't made this years World Cup.Good support for the idea u17 WorldCups are meaningless for senior performances.Backed up by Nigeria never doing good at senior level either .Although doing well in youth World Cups.

He has a point though, they drew with Mexico also so in a way it was pass mark just, 2 good results, 2 bad results in a way its not too bad, you're being too harsh on the joeys
