It's interesting how AU are getting accolades for youth development. Roars TD, Drew Sherman, reported at Fridays Fan Forum that Roar converted 7 youth team players to first team players via debut, the next best world-wide was Man Utd with 6.

He looked good on Saturday. I know you can't draw too many conclusions from 20 minutes in pre-season but he looked hungry and a very intelligent player.

Was the Peninsula Power game the first preseason friendly for you guys?
Seems you'll be coming into the Cup pretty undercooked if that's the only one, and FBK, Papadopoulos etc didn't play

No announcement on sponsorship yet either, so the shirt may be plain orange lol ... can't see them messing with the Orange again, white shorts? Possibly, fans like the black though ...

That was fucking disgrace. Haven't left a game early in ages. Nothing redeeming about that game.

If tonight is any glimpse of what is in store for Brisbane this season it is looking very grim, would be nice if they actually gave a shit about the FFA Cup for once or the ACL.........

Jesus wept that was average. Crucial errors at important times.
Goal 1 - Young could have done better, Hingert ball watching
Goal 2 - Horrible pass out from TK. Love the bloke but hope he never plays CB again.
Goal 3 - soft penalty
Goal 4 - another soft penalty
Goal 5 - more poor defending, right through the middle of the defence
Thought we looked pretty toothless up front but I guess that's to be expected with two inexperienced players up front. Not sure Caletti and McKay in midfield works either.
We need a RW, and maybe another AM. We were missing quite a few first teamers so I guess we can't read too much into it. We were still very poor.
Skapetis looked good, what a hit for his goal. Holman looked decent in patches. Brady looked somewhat dangerous in patches too.
I guess we move on and hope for better next time round.

Definitely agree with McKay and caletti. There was no defensive strength may as well be traffic cones.
But I have no idea why we played such a weakened team. Although given the lack of depth for mv. They have no option but to play their first 11. Case in point Roar empty the bench before Kevin made a sub. You think 5 goals up you let your kids have a run.

Unbelievable team selection. Victory have 15 players signed, with one injured, and put out an impressive starting XI. Roar have 21 signed and start with three teenagers and some rather odd positioning (it was a bit like they drew which position they would play at random).
- Brady ... hasn't got an A league bone in his body
- D'aggers .... looked toothless
- Kristensen shoujdnt play CB
- Holman ... had the best shot of anyone but spent most of his time on the wing.
There was some good stuff in there tonight, but you can't give your opponents 6-7 chances and concede five times, and not create enough chances yourself.
It looked and felt like the Pen Power trial game, only thing missing was mass substitutions.

I thought Brady looked ok but I'm still unconvinced he's ready for this level.
We definitely need another winger of some sort. Whether that be RW or LW I'm not sure.
D'Agostino I thought was quite ineffective.

Brady at youth level is absolute dynamite, way above his peers. But he can't make it happen at A league level yet.

@ Mr. B.
Pepper would have made sense. He can defend.
The formation had hard to pick but I'm guessing 3-4-3 up until 1-0 and then 4-3-3 there on?
If Aloisi is going to start three teenagers why not O'Toole at CB and let Kristensen play DM? Our best midfielder was played out of position.
Defensively it was a shambles, victory had 6-7 chances and scored 5. The first two were caused by school yard errors which is the same as last years defending, and the seasons before. Can Aloisi not see this?
The inescapable conclusion is Roar don't take the FFA Cup seriously. Epic fail.

They were playing a back three last night (even though brown dropped deep after the first goal) and plan to stick with it. We're in for some fun if they can't get it right.

The worst ever preseason result.Aloisi should hang his head.Just wtf was he doing? Excuses about not being ready yet ,don't cut it.It's the same for MV. Not having a playmaker is going to hurt us this year, along with a squad that looks weaker than last year. This is going to be a tough summer of football.Even with our best team. McKay and Caletti are speed bumps and a real worry defensively.Kristensen back in the center will be better ,but like the other two is slow and I fear the attacking tide overwhelming them.On top of that they are responsible for transitioning to attack and finding holes in defence. After last night Holman will no doubt go central again. But his carefree style wont help defence and wont unlock defences either. I don't see any solution unfortunately.
