+x+xAs much as I'm enjoying this season with its higher energy I am getting incredulous as to how quickly they are travelling around as compared to other seasons. Westeros is a bloody continent but it's conquered in the space of minutes by Gendry running, a raven flying and then 3 dragons flying back in the opposite direction. All the while some hairy men sit on a rock in a blizzard and seem to be just fine. Yeah the fast travel this season is ridiculously jarring. Honestly this season has been pretty mediocre. They're just trying to jam as much cool shit and one-liners in there as possible, it all feels so rushed. The avengers/justice league going out to get a dead wight (?) seriously felt like fan-fiction. If the show ends with Jon and Dany ruling Westeros together I'll be bitterly disappointed. I hope they are just setting up Jon and Dany before they destroy the idea. If they do rule together then it is far too obvious and against the feel of the rest of the story.

All will depend on if/when Jon finds out about his parentage and how he feels about boning his aunt and how Dany reacts to not only not being the last Targaryen but also not having the great claim to the throne she thought she did. As for the time travel, with so little show left I don't care how quickly certain characters travel as long as they're where they need to be.

I hope it does happen as I like Jon and Dany even with the family love but know it won't happen because it would be the happy ending and game of thrones has never worked that way. It will be an ending that will cause controversy that is for sure, just hope it ain't Cersei ruling at the end.

MRW when I just read that season 8 may not be released till 2019.
Fuck that sucks so hard. And considering I read the entire leaked season 7 outline around 11 months ago I'll have been waiting for season 8 for 3 years.

They have all the scripts down, now they're storyboarding to work out how long it'll take to shoot.

I hope they are just setting up Jon and Dany before they destroy the idea. If they do rule together then it is far too obvious and against the feel of the rest of the story. I think you'll be disappointed. (Speaking at the Medill School of Journalism in Illinois last week, Martin discussed how his final two books will have echoes of Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings. In the past Martin has spoken of his admiration for Tolkien’s works, as well as being friendly critic of some of Tolkien’s approaches. However, this time he agrees with Tolkien about the ending to stories, saying “I think you need to have some hope”: We all yearn for happy endings in a sense. Myself, I’m attracted to the bittersweet ending. People ask me how Game of Thrones is gonna end, and I’m not gonna tell them … but I always say to expect something bittersweet in the end, like [J.R.R. Tolkien]. I think Tolkien did this brilliantly. I didn’t understand that when I was a kid — when I read Return of the King.
In The Lord of the Rings, although the quest is successful, when the hobbits return to the Shire they discover that it was been over-run by Saruman’s men. Following Saruman’s downfall, Frodo ultimately leaves Middle-earth creating a bittersweet ending in the chapter “The Grey Havens”. Vulture reports that Martin wants to recreate this sense that life cannot return to normality: Also here's something from a telegraph article: (There might be some light relief in Martin's seventh book, Dreams of Spring, however. While he has previously dismissed the rumours that Winds of Winter and Dreams of Spring will be released at the same time, Martin did say in Mexico that the final ending to his fantasy saga might not be as grisly as imagined: "I’m not going to tell you how I’m going to end my book, but I suspect the overall flavor is going to be as much bittersweet as it is happy.")

Particularly as Yara & Theon set out for KL when the Unsullied set out for the Rock. Which meant Euron had to do all his business with Yara & Theon, and then only just get beaten to The Rock by the Unsullied. But that teleporting last night was truly absurd. Benjen was wasted last night. I hated that sequence. Did anyone else get the feeling that Jon's entourage handled the Walkers a little too well? The Walkers Army doesn't seem as threatening as I used to. 8 blokes were able to hold them off, and kill a shitload of them, quite "easily". Jon was slicing thru them with ease, when previously they seemed ridiculous to kill. I genuinely hated the whole idea of the undead dying once their creator was killed - what a shitty thought to introduce. Makes all Walker fights largely irrelevant in future as the focal point is SOLELY the Night King now. Ergh. So once everyone finds out about the Walker Dragon.. it'll be all about getting Cersei's giant crossbows and loading them with Dragonglass spears, yeah?

They do have Giants though, that could be a bit of a changer of sorts but yeah you don't want some tacky 1v1 Jon-lad vs Night's King-bro for the undisputed title that ends up wiping them all out. That'd be pretty shit for these bad arse creatures that have supposedly existed for centuries and what not. -PB

Have to admit Benjen being chucked in like that was such a waste, just like many things have been rushed for the sake of a smaller season.

+xHave to admit Benjen being chucked in like that was such a waste, just like many things have been rushed for the sake of a smaller season. They had the ability to get Benjen to take Jon away and have a genuine Stark-based interaction with Jon next episode. Hell, Benjen could have been the one whom broke R+L=J news to Jon and claimed it was the knowledge of that which made him take up the black in the first place. There were so many possibilities, but in the end they rushed that scene and it ended up making Dany leaving Jon largely irrelevant in the end. And we'll be stuck with Sam's little adopted kid accidentally handing R+L=J to Jon in a book. Sigh.

Still 99% sure it'll be Bran to do the R+L=J reveal and Sam will help flesh out the part about him being legitimate.

It really wasn't worth the effort, and wasted what could have been a better re-return character. tl;dr - you didn't miss much.

+xThe stream I had dropped off suddenly after the dragon died, no idea what happened after that Oh. Well from memory.. SPOILER ALERT EVEN THOUGH THIS THREAD IS FILLED WITH THE SHIT Jon's entourage escaped on Dany's dragon, but Jon fell into the icebath so they left him behind. Jon then borrowed Jamie Lannister's scuba gear and was able to not resurface long enough for the entire Walker army to leave the area. Walkers eventually saw Jon and ran at him but a dude on a horse with like fire nunchucks stopped them. It was Benjen. He gave Jon the horse, Jon rode away, and Benjen sunk into the Walker Army, seemingly more dead than he was for many seasons before resurfacing with Bran. Jon made it back to the wall, passed out, on the horse. Where Dany was waiting, pining because of her dragon. They bailed outta there on a big boat, and it looks like Jorah is smuggling the "live" Walker to Kings Landing on a small boat now. Cue back to the Walkers whom have three massive chains being held single file by hundreds of walkers, seemingly towing something out of the ice water. They pull up the dragon. The Night King goes up to the Dragon and kinda holds onto its forehead for a while and the very last moment is the dragon eye opening, now the bright blue colour of White Walker eyes.

+xthose seven episodes zoomed by Probs because they were written by TV writers instead of being based off in-depth actual Martin writing that makes that whole universe more interesting. They seem to be in a rush to keep getting these money shots and big character pay-offs that lack a certain integrity and class that Martin would provide (but alas he's a fat fuck who hasn't even finished the books, world class pleb)

That is not to say the show isn't well made, nor the acting superb at times. Its just that it has gone from an absolute masterpiece to a very good TV series.
