Oar's on the bench Subbed on, 61'.
By now, American Samoa must have realised that Australias 22-0 win over Tonga two days earlier was no fluke.

Don't care about Ryan's ratings.
If we want to qualify it time for Postecoglou to suck it up and bring the form keeper Brad Jones in, allow a mixture of playing from the back and long balls, plus get the outfielders to be in positions free of defenders for a quick throw and run into the attacking half.

Full 90 for Ansell (wearing number 4 in yellow) pity they coughed up the 2-0 lead for a draw but he wasn't to blame: Crowd was 1,620. In some parts of the world that metric doesn't matter as long as the league is good quality, which it obviously is.

Bernie Ibini doing alright, should have had at least a shot from a counterattack but his touch was far too heavy and gave the defender a chance to tackle. Beaten his man well a few times and fighting hard for the ball whenever he's near. Wasted a cross when he had no one near him but slid in an a good overlapping pass for the Whitecaps' right back which resulted in a goal. Would give him a 6/10 for the first half

In some parts of the world that metric doesn't matter as long as the league is good quality, which it obviously is. They are the anti-ffa. Almost big 5 in quality yet sub nsl crowds I've only watched half a dozen games but I really wonder if a mid table team could survive relegation in the epl. The top of the table teams of course excel in the champions league. There isnt that much gap between portrugal and the big 5 despite the huge difference in crowd size/sponsorship and (probably) wages

+xI think Langerak needs a month before we know if he will be number 1 My thoughts as well. Language is especially important for keepers and if he doesn't know spanish it'll take a little while for him to get the basics down. Will also depend on if the other keeper does well at the start of the season.

Bernie came off in the 73rd, thought he did well though he was pretty timid compared to when he played in the A-League. Seemed to be asked to defend and sit deep when Real Salt Lake had the ball and struggled a bit to defend, Salt Lake almost scored off of two crosses his opponent put in. Thought it was a shot instead of a cross for his assist but whatever works! Good to see that he's starting to get some good game time over there.

Good game from Bernie. He looks to me as though he hobbles a lot, not sure if it's the injuries from the last couple of years, but he definitely has lost that real turn of pace for me.

+xJust saw the highlights. A better game by Ryan. Good stuff. He seems to be working on his positioning, which is Good, as I always tell young goalies I train, you can have the reflexes of a cat, but you don't have to if your positioning is right.

Kruse is in his element with that front 3. Definitely a chance to get promoted with that fire power. An error could see him get benched as they have amazing depth.

+xJust saw the highlights. A better game by Ryan. Good stuff. I have been quite a big fan of Ryan, but I am still concerned about his reflexes. One incident in last night's game typified it for me. Halfway through the first half, Gareth Barry had a shot from about 10-12 metres. It hit another WBA player and went wide or over, but it was originally on target. I would have had expected Ryan to start to dive or at least raise his arms (the shot was rising and possibly was on target for the roof of the net if not blocked) as soon as he realised the direction of the shot, but he just stood pretty much stock still. It was similar to the Thai goal last week where he appeared to make no attempt to move or get his arms up from a shot from 10 metres. These sort of chances are not easy to save, and if they are saved they are rightly looked on as very good saves, but there is no chance of saving them if the keeper's reflexes are too slow to allow him to react in time.
