they did use a pressing trap on him. Sometimes there was 4 on him. The other screener struggled to compensate and they mostly attempted wide channels. Westham played 3 at the back and outnumbered huddersfield in midfield. The cbs also struggled with their 9's physical presence. Also their lb was majorly outgunned in speed duels by westhams lw

Also the rain seemed to affect the quality.

Grazor do you think you could describe this pressing trap? or to throw it open to the floor can anyone explain it? I've heard of these like 4 directional pressing traps on a center mid but never actually implemented it.

It's about blocking passing lanes and positioning.

the best ever pressing trap I've seen is greeces second game against us. I'm not 100% clear how to pull it off but the basic idea is you  have minimal press on the cbs and put all the pressure on the screeners to prevent a buildup through the middle. Its particularly effective if a team doesn't like to do wide buildups because the full backs are weak. You don't actually block the passing lane to the screaners. You have numbers around them so they can rapidly converge on them the moment the ball is passed to them. Typically you want four converging on him from four different directions to force him to try a bump ball back to the cbs

Thanks mate. That is very interesting. I'm trying to find this game. They scored their 2 goals from robbing us in the middle. I'll do some research.

have a look at the players around our screaners. It was outright clinical. And if there is a turnover from a screaner you have have an overload in a dangerous position

The downside is you leave a lot of space behind the pressing trap for a number 10 and a number 9 to do some damage if you are good enough

A recent youth game we faced a pressing trap that was well implemented. If we could beat it goals should have been fairly easy. If we felt we couldn't beat it we can play with twin screaners to make the pressing trap harder to implement but unfortunately we didnt

That brown center back is atrocious, especially on the ball. Looks so out of place in what looks like a quality team.

They look at sea when they can't get any fluent attack going. By the sounds of it Mooy got chased off the ball immediately.
Jorgensen? He's a pretty solid CB from reading various things. Has Mooy like potential Wagner obviously noticed .

Jedinak gets a start as does Luongo.

Jack Iredale in the SPFL team of the week after his debut for Queen's Park.

DC - Jack Iredale (Queen's Park)
The on-loan Morton centre-back was praised for his composure on the ball in the aftermath of Queen's Park's 1-0 victory at East Fife. Operating on the left of a back three, Iredale routinely helped build attacks from the back and handled his defensive responsibilities with little fuss.

Says his loan ends Jan 1. He would be looking to stay on div 1 though.

i bet celtic are glad they played a conservative defensive line up

sometimes having an attacking player helps the defense because the other side is less keen to commit numbers forward if you can threaten them

I think either way they wuld be stuffed against psg. They would still get caught on the counter and possiby have their players even further up the field. They are just too better.

its weird though if Ange plays an attacking line up against a world class team and we get beaten by 3 goals people would call him stubborn. If a coach plays a more defensive line up and they get smashed its like "what can you do"

Depends really.
What is the best Celtic could get from 2 legs? 1 or 2 points.
I would defend and try not to concide because then you have a chance to end up in the Europa League. Celtic wont finsih higher than Bayern and PSG so they should focus on 3rd. Goal difference may get them that.

PSG 5:0. Did Rogic manage to do anything exciting? PSG will go close to winning it. Celtic are annoying in that they become extremely tame against better opponents but feel like heroes in the league.
