rogic with a decent strike from the tip of the box. forced a save in the top corner.  should have followed up with another one but passed poorly instead and lost the ball.

to give you an idea of the difference finishing makes

psg have 62% possession
they have less than 10 shots and 5 on target to celtics 3 on target

if those were the stats of australia vs some asian team we probably lose 2-1

and yet psg are up 5-0

This performance has been a long time coming. Unfortunately, with Griffiths off, it's a bit much to ask Sinclair or Brown to rescue this one.
The rest have been shite

you can't compare a team like this psg to virtually any national team.  teams at this level are the cream of the crop.

Rodgers should have started Rogic. Armstrong was piss weak. no attack rubbish
Early push on Sinclair should have been a foul. Changed the whole game really

true but
45 shots for 2 goals vs 10 shots for 5 goals is quite a contrast between the cream and where we are at. If we finish like psg we win 22-1

Our midfield is good enough to generate chances against any opposition in the world

our finishing is bad enough to miss against any opposition in the world.....

I thought this was a product of too much experimentation and lack of quality in the team in general. Dembele should be playing but where is he.
Trusting the ridiculous Scottish league joe schmoes. All that's happend is McGregor and Armstrong have learnt to kick goals inthe SPFL. They can't keep up at this level, nor these average ragged african midfielders by the looks

we dont have a player that would get a gig with this psg.  because they cant do things like convert their chances.

following my earlier point about top clubs being better than national teams (except for the odd super elite team - like 2014's germany).  i reckon last years sydney fc would do over the roo's 9 times out of 10 in a one off match..

I recorded the PSG game and just watched it through. Rogic had some good runs with the ball and it often (as usual) takes two players to dispossess him.

His major problem, and the reason he goes missing for long periods of a game, is he is really lazy/unintelligent when it comes to being available for a pass. And it wasn't a case of PSG marking him well either. He was free, but he'd drift into a space where the angle between him and the player with the ball is cut off by the player that is closing down the player with the ball.

He can be an incredibly incisive player when he gets on the ball but his positioning needs a lot of work.

His off the ball positioning has improved

you would think celtic would be a great place to improve his ability to create passing lanes. Hope he is being coached well

you can't compare a team like this psg to virtually any national team.  teams at this level are the cream of the crop.

We also have to remember that the higher the level you play the harder is to create more chances for a proactive team.

No offence to Celtic but they not exactly tough opposition and PSG, they have superior quality so of course they will create more chances.

It was similar last week to us because we have superior quality to Thailand but against a team similar us in Japan we couldn't create as many.

And all of this means nothing if you cant finish of course there is a reason why PSG spent 200 million on Neymar and loaned the hottest young striker in world football to put the chances away.

Which is why the quality is so crucial for any team.

@ highkick05: RE Dembele not playing... Dembele was/is out injuried.

@ Multiple posters: RE no Rogic/playing Armstrong... We were lined-up in a defensive structure. Armstrong is more a 'box-to-box' player, where as Rogic more attacking mid. Rogic isn't really set up as a player who is to be running up and down the pitch chasing PSG's mids, where as Armstrong is more so.

Yeah set up to lose. I hate that thinking. The best form of defense is attack. Sure Rogic doesn't defend well but he attacks better so he's better to have on the pitch.

I too don't like playing with a defensive mindset if there is no result. When the players play with an attacking mindset week-in, week-out only to switch it can't be easy. Last season we showed that we can play an offensive mindset and hold our own ('RE vs ManCity ties). Don't get me wrong, if we play/played with a defensive setup, and we get a positive result (ie like vs Barca a few seasons ago), I would absolutely love it. You need to play extremely well - pretty much a perfect game when you go with a defensive game plan, there is no room for mistake.

Note, I personally don't care how a team is setup as long as we win. Give me an "ugly win",  over a "pretty loss" any day. Yet, if you do play ugly you need to get a result, otherwise it is just 'ugly'.

That's a shame. Although... just between me n u. This scenario with Dembele reminds me of what happened to Rogic.

yeah but re defensive formation. Armstrong is hardly a defender. Biton would be more suited to this setup next to Scott Brown.
It looked attacking enough, they had the ball in GOOD attacking area's to start. Push on Sinclair should have been called, this led to PSG first goal.
Armstrong was shithouse all game. got bullied around and had zero impact on the game except providing a passing option.
Agree with the setup to lose. BR losing it
